This isn’t even about racism or anything.
It’s a fantasy game. Why is it that in every other fantasy game, every facial option has every single skin color option… except this one?
Stupid decision. Period.

I’m not too thrilled with this either. And where are the Asian faces? The ones that I guess are supposed to be Asian still have caucasian features, especially the eyes.
Specially when the whole “make your human character look like you” thing was one of their biggest selling points for the customization thing. Guess it had an asterisk.
They literally had east-asian faces at blizzcon and they aren’t here because…?

Because they want to control EVERY aspect of the game, right down to the skin colors. I’m surprised they even let us play the toons.

I believe that’s because in the last few months or years, Asians have lost their protected status in the west. They do as good if not better than most white people, so we no longer care about their representation or inclusion.
As a personal ancedote, my friend - who’s is a VP at a major company - was told he can hire one more person for his team, but that person has to be a minority. He was like: “OK, give me the best resumes from Asians”… he was told: “No, black or Latino. It needs to be an actual minority.”

It might , but isn’t that effort something worth it when the entire selling point of this feature is to allow people to play as characters that represent them? Yet they decided it wasn’t worth the effort some people played as such?

Well I dunno if you noticed, but blizz and wow are a mess. Maybe it’s just because of the pandemic, but there is a lot of polish across the board for the game missing. Blizz is also notorious for only delivering half of an idea and honestly probably never getting back to it. It may change and it may not. May take awhile for them to come back around to it.

Ya’ll are insane, it’s not racist at all. When you start calling everything racist you diminish real racist acts.
Edit - Also the people saying you can’t change nose shape… Look a little harder before crying.
I’m not gonna argue whether it’s racist or not, but I do think it’s lame that some facial structures/poses/features are locked by skin color. There’s a real cool looking scarred and angry female human face and you can only use it with the black skin tone. The scarred female white skin tone face has a dopey grin. I’m not arguing with anyone that it’s racist or not racist, but I do think it’s absolutely stupid to lock options behind skin tone. It’s like those Asian MMOs where classes are gender-locked. Also, I’ve been in beta for awhile and don’t believe it was always like this so this is a fairly recent change.

I’ve been saying this for weeks and people keep claiming those ones are Asian. The offense my Asian friends took to that wasn’t surprising. Those aren’t Asian at all.

Everything is racist, every color, every word, every everything. You can’t breath and not be racist in the world today. OMG i opened my eyes and looked at it, it must be racist, I breathed I must be racist, I didn’t breath, i must be racist, I didn’t breath fast enough so I must be racist, I breathed to slow so I must be racist.
Everything is racist if that is all you look for.

And people are allowed to take some offense to people on the forums saying the Caucasian faces are the ones that are supposed to be Asian. They weren’t offended by the video game, genius. They were offended by the comments. And there are levels of being offended. No one was screaming or throwing fits.
You’ve got some issues, considering I’m the one that said this is a fantasy game and the problem isn’t racism, it’s the fact that faces shouldn’t be locked to skin tones, seeing as how no other MMO I play has ever done that. Period.
