It ‘s pretty crap that after how many months of playing being forced to change your name. I would like to change the name I just changed it to because I messed up. Allow us to at least get free name changes after this debacle.
I also find it fishy we all moved to CS the RP PvP server and the streamer server I bet if this happened to the streamers blizzard would have to take more notice
Well if it was based on a character having actually logged into SoD would have helped at least some. When they announced the consolidation I thought they meant totally new servers… then I saw them say Wild Growth and the PvP one I was like oh boy.
Lava Lash had already had moved to Wild Growth in like May. So many people lost names because Wild Growth was a much larger server. So all the people who lost their names had to grab new ones and it’s not just a main or two it’s all the alts they brought as well. So you won’t find a “raid history” on Warcraft Logs unless they raided on Wild Growth because it’s a different name in many cases.
Around that same time many guilds started taking breaks because people were sick of ST. A lot of the people I knew in mid/late July quit because they were still angry over losing their names and many guilds were inactive etc So all those names are locked simply because they hadn’t quit until after the “deadline”. Then you have the ones that still play some form of classic etc
Oh and of course “new servers” would be a mess too…
Yeah, people have a legit reason to be upset about these mega server changes.
[GarnetHound] made a formal put small blue post about how the Name Reclamation feature was never functioning as intended - so in otherwords sounds like essentially no names were ever free’d up.
In that same post he claims they identified the issue and a solution is going through testing, though that was about 24 hours ago with no follow up.
I am lucky enough that 2 of my characters are still waiting for a rename, so I am hopeful they release names still, but I’d imagine they won’t do much of anything for anyone who has renamed their characters with a name they don’t actually want.
As a result I have 2 of my mains just sitting in a non-playable state for the entire week so far, can’t wait for my 1 day of free game time.
I feel for you. I had to already go from CB → LL → WG. Each hop I lost my names.

“You do not need to wait, just pick anything and play for now, working on a rename solution once name reclamation is fixed.”

Tom Ellis posted on his twitter that they are working on fixing it and basically said dont wait to rename and log in your characters. Sounds like they arent close to a fix and its going to be a week by week issue. Side note, the fact that a random devs twitter is where you need to find this information is dumb… We need updates on the forums that be pushed to actual news outlets.

To be honest, for any company conducting any kind of product validation or intaking any feedback, it can actually be very helpful to understand the type of user that the specific feedback is coming from.
While him being in a top speedrun guild does not increase the leverage of his requests over others, it is actually contextual info that any software company would care to know.
Bro Sod is literally the easiest version of wow you could play next to classic era. You are competing against people who for the most part don’t ever even check the website. No one cares about your logs. If you want actual difficulty and competition go raid/m+ in retail. Even Cata would be a huge step up from Sod.

It’s not about my rankings and ego you narcissistic offended MIDWITS (with an inferiority complex), it’s about making a point on being an active player and the person who has my name doesn’t even play SoD on that character. And I suspect this is not an outlier, but the norm due to how Blizzard implements name reclamation as account-based and not character-based.

It’s the classic team. They are bound to screw up. Can’t even boil water without burning it. They really need to fix their name system. Just put numbers on it like destiny then hide the numbers so you have to hover over the nameplate or click it.
They also are ditching Lone Wolf PVP server and there is no equivalent ping PVP server. The only server that has equivalent ping to what PVP Lonewolf had is a PVE server for me. F going to Crusader strike the ping doubles for me. PVP becomes unplayable. This might be the most unprofessional software change I’ve ever seen. Surely they know they are killing us slowly?
why would they fix it? they can just let time go by and all of you will be forced to put in a bad new name because else you wont be able to raid BWL.

No offense but we went through this song and dance with WoW classic. If you played that version of WoW and didn’t make a character on every server with your favorite name…then you have no one to blame but yourself for having such an unoriginal name and actually being attached to it.
