Not Enough Memory Please Help

Not permissions, no. I mean the setting found under the advanced performance options of the system control panel. If you’re not sure where that is there’s a good chance you haven’t done anything to it, but just in case (and bear with me, because it’s a tedious journey in Win10):

  • Right click on the Start button (or hit Win+X) and select System
  • On the upper right of this dialogue, select System info
  • On the left of this dialogue, select Advanced system settings
  • Hit the Settings button in the Performance section
  • Select the Advanced tab
  • Hit the Change button

All going well, you should see a new window now labelled Virtual Memory. If the checkbox at the top is ticked you don’t need to do anything and can close up the mess of windows you just opened since this isn’t the problem. If it is not ticked, check the list of drives below it, making sure at least one of them is set to System managed. Again, if at least one is set appropriately than you can close out the new mess of windows.

If none of the drives are system managed, pick one (if you have more than one, pick your “scratch” or “temporary” drive if you have one, or your primary drive if you’re unsure) and set it to System managed. Manually setting the size, including disabling it entirely, is only advised if you know exactly what you’re doing and why.
