When attempting to buy a house it keeps saying “you can’t purchase a house in this neighborhood”. Does this mean I don’t have enough gold or something else?
Too new for me!
So I asked Perplexity AI, which suggests it’s mroe likely a Guild or Faction restriction in that neighborhood:
To check the requirements for purchasing a neighborhood or plot in WoW Midnight, you should use the Housing Dashboard and House Finder feature. The Housing Dashboard provides an overview of available neighborhoods, your house’s level, and the plots’ status. The House Finder tool allows you to browse different neighborhoods, see which plots are open or reserved, and compare them before making a purchase.
For specific restrictions, you can also talk to the steward NPC within your housing area, who manages neighborhood access and plots. They can give you details about whether a neighborhood is guild-only, faction-specific, or open to the public, and show available plots in real-time. In addition, if a desired plot is unavailable, you can reserve it temporarily through the House Finder, giving you time to scout or prepare for purchase.
In short, key steps to check requirements are:
- Use the Housing Dashboard and House Finder to browse neighborhoods and plots.
- Talk to the neighborhood steward NPC for restrictions and info.
- Check if the neighborhood is guild-only, faction-specific, or open to all.
This allows you to make an informed decision before attempting to purchase a plot or neighborhood.

I can’t buy a house either. I pre-ordered the base midnight edition, and I found a public house that wasn’t bought. Gives the title: “You can’t purchase a house in this neighborhood.” Went around to three different areas, all the same response.
Same here, have you figured this out yet?
I am also having this issue
I had to make the current character I was playing on the owner of the house. My alt was the one who first bought the plot. Go in the house and go to settings, then change owner to who will be moving the plot.
If one character is in and guild but not the owner of the plot, they will not be able to move into the guild neighborhood as the owner is not
This resolved the issue!!! I had to go find who the heck made the house, then give ownership to my main. Then I could finally move my house to the new guild server/plot.
Hello, is there an official ticket open about this issue? My GF is having this issue, and we are now end of March 2026. I want to know if there is another known solution other than creating another character.
I’m having the same issue, was yours addressed?
