So, until BfA, WoD has been panned as the worst expack ever. I still mostly agree with that on account of them simply giving up on the story halfway through in what was already a far reach (alt universe, c’mon!) to begin with.
Because of the huge content drought, a lot of people gave up and walked away. there are very few people left standing with WoD’s original Challenge Mode Weapon Mogs.
Some of those were pretty amazing. How many people do you know who have them?
Since they released recolors of MoP’s Rare “never to be seen again after this expack” models of class specific challenge mode armor as Class Hall armor 2 expacks later…
There is precedent for reviving old special mog models as recolors.
The Mage Tower is a bit different in that one weapon had multiple models and colorations to play with after the initial unlock.
WoD models are different. Viewable in Ashran only, never to be seen in the wild, like a museum display to an extinct species you wish you could see in the flesh.
Lets Jurassic Park these guys back with some food coloring mixed into their DNA
Not just “recolor” but redesigned some. Like Paladins armors: No wings on shoulders.
Ultimately you are just doing another “bring back the MT mog” thread you just want some variance to try to claim it isn’t it. Everyone on this planet had the same 15 months everyone else did. It is gone. Stop trying to get blizz to bring back stuff they told the players it was going away. Regardless the reason people didn’t get, they didn’t get.
I mean FFS I finally got my GF into WoW, im helping her level a druid with my druid that uses the MT appearance. She thought it was awesome and asked how to get it. I told her it was a limited time only mog and it can’t be obtained anymore. She didn’t get mad or make posts, she actually said “oh that is cool, sucks I won’t get it but I do get why” and moved on. You and everyone else should…
This. Limited time means limited time. It’s over. I disagreed with them even making the class sets from Legion moderately resemble the challenge mode sets from Pandaria. It’s a cheap recolor, and nothing more, with zero effort put into attaining the mog.
This directly goes against them making the MT limited time, and goes against their word. 15 months is enough time to get whatever you wanted from the MT, especially since they super charged artifacts and gave you 100% up time at the end.
I do not see it as a “wrong” decision. In fact, considering WoW has repeatedly had cosmetics as limited time things like the WoD weapons, Gladiator mounts, PVP tints, etc and these push people to do something in a limited time frame. This is actually good business and game sense for everyone that doesn’t seem to think they are entitled to everything in the game…
Alright. So, as someone that got all the appearances from the Mage Tower he wanted, I gotta ask… what’s the “prestige” of limited time only items? Isn’t the prestige in being able to do the actual challenge, not when you did it? Seems to me that challenging appearances and the like should be about skill levels, not when you did it.
I never quite got the whole “you weren’t there, thus you shouldn’t get it” argument. If it were properly scaled (or perhaps even scaled to more difficulty), why shouldn’t such things be obtainable later on as well? Even if just as a yearly event or something?
Removing content in any form (Whether it’s quests, gear, or transmog) is a bad idea. Period.
Nobody genuinely feels special for owning the Artifact Appearances. They were an absolute joke to get in the last patch.
People can say “But it was a limited time event! Don’t give them out again!” all they want, but you’re just supporting the denial of fun/cool things to new players in the future, purely for the sake of snowflake selfishness.
Oh my god, this again. Do yall know how many times Blizzard goes back on their ““word”” and implements/changes things they said they wouldn’t? This is not at all a deterrent anymore. They won’t bring back the MT stuff, but using “their word” as an argument is ridiculous.
Also just going to repeat how much I hate them removing content from the game. The more fun content, the more things there are for us to do, the longer we play.
15 months. You had 15 months. That is hardly a “do it now” scheme. Time exclusive is a good thing, as it also breeds exclusivity in players that did do the thing and earned it.
How many times have they on cosmetics? It is VERY rare for them to do this, and on nothing they said it would be going away for good from the onset. Since 7.2 Blizz said the MT thing was a legion only thing, and that is how it should be.
Until recently at least, yeah. They’re gonna be pushing all sorts of new cosmetic things in Shadowlands from the sounds of it, and finally made legendaries transmoggable after saying for years they’d never allow it.
I’m just saying, Blizzard saying something doesn’t mean anything anymore. They change their minds all the time. It’s not likely they’ll ever bring these back, but they could totally do it if they wanted.
They can make new “fun content” for people who want something special.
Not sure where this entitlement nature came into play, but the entire world has things in it that are limited time. For many people, that’s half the fun of limited time stuff. It makes it special and different from everything else.
Challenge Mode PvE and Elite PvP cosmetics are the two things I will always support being limited time.
Spoken like someone that doesn’t have them. Running around in my Werebear, that I got in 7.2, yeah it feels unique. I earned a genuinely unique appearance and even with the changes, was still difficult for certain specs due to how they were. I went on to earn 24/36 of them and use them on every character but my hunter. Each one is an accomplisment, while i don’t use the freebie or easy to get ones. Same as mounts. I don’t use the easy to get ones, just the ones I work for, and the ones no long able to get, as they are something that is unique.
Things have been removed since before Ion was the director, it was just mounts or titles and not transmog (though old PvP stuff have been removed, too).
Some time exclusive rewards are fine so long as they are cosmetic. In my opinion, the cloak and ring quests are what should not have been removed but the CM and Mage Tower was brought out as time limited events and it was by their very nature that I pushed myself to get some of them.
Blizzard should focus on new, exciting rewards for everyone to work on getting, and not being back the old ones that other players already have.
