Not what I said. I said the available rank 11 spots would be filled, not the whole server would be rank 11.
15 HK’s to start with.
Here’s the rest:

Honestly doing the High Warlord grind is really what I am coming back for. :]
This is what I meant, Rating points not Honor.
The Rating Point minimums give you a minimum before anyone can be considered for a rank. i.e. if you want Rank 14 you have to have 60,000 RP and be in the top 1% of the server, which translates to #1 or #2 for that week.
Isn’t that just a few-hundred kills though (even assuming everyone you kill is a private the first week)? Not sure how long it takes diminishing returns to wear off, but would expect the top players on any server will hit those minimums (unless I misunderstand).
The formulas side will give you that. But no, its not just “a few hundred kills”. It requires at least a few thousand HKs a week, and on different players, not the same ones over and over. You can gain 13000 RP per week, and lose 20% of your current RP, so its a running battle to maintain your rank and increase.
I have 4 words for you.
Southshore vs Tauren Mill.
The way the Vanilla PvP rank system works is this:
- If you get at least 15 HKs you’re in the the rating pool for the week
- Everybody in the rating pool is put into brackets based on how much Contribution Points they earned in comparison to what everybody else in the pool earned.
- CP is earned by getting HKs(diminishing with repeated kills on the same target within 24 hours) and, once available, doing certain Battleground objectives.
- What bracket you are in determines how much RP you get
- How much RP you have determines what your rank is
- RP decays by 20% of your total per week. This is the mechanic that makes the rank 14 grind so massive and requires you be in the top bracket in order to get there.
- There is technically a level requirement for rank 4 and above, but obviously a 60 can get any rank.
Technically it’s possible to get to rank 14 by getting 16 HKs every week, but only by literally nobody else on the server getting more CP than you did. The top bracket is only 0.2%, so only a couple of players can be in it.
Which even without BGs, Tarren Mill vs Southshore is a thing so I can pretty much guarantee you’ll need more than 16 HKs to rank in that top bracket.
More than okay with this
For me? Sure. That’s one way. Chain WSG is another. Not arguing the how, just pointing out the numbers.
Well, I mean WSG won’t be available in phase 2.
Sure. And (depending on release speed) likely no-one will have enough RP to be Rank 14 before CP3 anyway.
Can’t wait for classic to come so people have something better to do than dream up pointless posts.
Yeah, regardless of release speed, until phase 3 drops I foresee Hilsbrad being nothing but an endless battle on pve servers.
I expect STV to also be nonstop PvP.
As it should be! ![]()
True, but like any good guerrilla war, it will be asymmetric warfare with high level accounts ganking low level ones.
Not with that attitude. You could consume vast quantities of alcohol before you log in for the first time. That’ll at least do something.
