Ill echo this sentiment.
I quit playing a healer in WoD because every arena match was just 2 idiots running me down as my two idiots ran down their healer. What is fun about that?
I know thats a low rank thing. But still.

Itâs kind of funny that apparently expecting dps to not be a potato in content giving top end gear is a massive design fail lol.
But it is because there are less healers or tanks, regardless of how difficult you perceive them to be. How can it be otherwise when the role making more than half a group takes the longest?
I hate to sound like a classic andy. But I hate rotations. RPGs shouldnt have rotations.
Dps dont have to look ahead 12 GCDs. But they still have to deal with this ârampingâ nonsense. Every class feels like and old car trying to start up.
How can it be otherwise when the role making more than half a group takes the longest?
because two of the roles have responsibilities to the group as a whole while dps mostly just have to worry about themselves. that is the core of the issue between tanking and healing and it wont be going away anytime soon. the next question is should they had made healing or tanking harder. i dont really have a perfect answer for that because there isnt one. if you go either way your going to be pissing people off so i dont think there is a good answer there.
No que times are high because people complete the season in a month. Plenty of healers and healing is pretty good right now
Kamehameha syndrome imo. While some may not like it the idea of building to big boom is fun for a lot of people. It works when you are building to big boom someonone with 1 billion HP taking 900k-1mil damage hits vs someone with 7mil hp taking 3-4mil damage hits.
Not every healing spec is hard mode, but to reach an elite level you need a lot of macros and addons help a lot. There really isnât time anymore to try and mouseover cast these days. I mean you can, but itâs a lot of time wasted while dodging mechanics yourself and canât afford to âmissâ when lag or a patch of latency hits. Healing by far has the highest skill cap in regards to fast and unpredictable mechanics.
Another healing thread that is all about dungeons. State it up front so there is context.
Is that why you post on a hidden profile?
Disagree with all of this other than the PvP stuff⌠I donât participate so I canât comment. Healing is great fun and I love that this season healers are more than just bad dps with spot heals.
Silly to call it an anecdotal. I also enjoy healing but it is a wildly unpopular role and has been since 2004.
As a healer I didnât need another set of gear for casual pve, just a weapon/trinkets, that was never the issue. The issue is the playerbase, end of story. People get carried to semi high rating and think they know what theyâre doing, and are toxic to boot.
Ran a 10 where our one of our physical dps had 1 interrupt for the entire dungeon, rating was over 2500. Ridiculous, and itâs the healer who gets stressed af because of play like that. Running as heals in a premade in any content is fine, itâs bad pugs that make it not fun to do.
pvp = dead b/c nobody wants to heal que times 30+ minutes solo q / 99% dps players in lfg
timewalking/random dung/m+ = dead b/c nobody wants to heal que times are awfulReturning friend comes back to wow, plays healer, quits within a month because itâs not fun at all. Tries to play dps quits because of q times. Every single friend same story.
Why?
No agency to carry (only lose slower), lower average rating than dps (pvp), more responsibility with literally less rewards.
Canât even pve/farm/delve without needing a second set of gear/second char/learning a second spec (trivial for some but for casuals they donât want to deal with it)
Above all itâs just not even remotely fun. Healing being awful will be and is the death of wow in all modes. The only place this (might) not apply is raiding. But all other content nobody wants to play healer. And as someone who got 2.5-2.6 on multiple healers last xpac in pvp, I donât want to heal anymore either. Thereâs nothing fun about it.
Hi, iâm nobody.
Silly to call it an anecdotal.
Agreed. It would be better to say OP is being hyperbolic.
Still incorrect though.
There really isnât time anymore to try and mouseover cast these days.
If you donât use mouseover as a healer, you are not managing optimal output, especially in a raid setting.
Healed rsham to ksm and pally up 1700 in bg blitz
Its as aids as its ever been so idk.
As a healer in pvp you can do loads if you know what youre doin
Even m+ i troll my buddies w lightning lasso to show off my sweet sweet utility
You should see Disc in raid. Itâs so bad. Itâs not just a numbers thing, itâs a design thing. You canât even put Atonement on the whole raid lol. Itâs just dumb.
I really like the evoker I made recently, but in tw dungeons only a single spell actually heals higher level players im with. Itâs impossible to learn how to heal this way. lol
imagine actually arguing itâs not a waste of time clearing a +8 delve as resto druid instead of going boomkin
Resto druid when it only has to heal itself can actually do quite a bit of damage. For someone who isnât practiced on other specs and with the reduction in health from being a solo healer, it might actually be faster for the player to stay resto with Brann in full DPS build than running a DPS spec.
I really like your second point and Ive felt this a long time. The fact that tanks and healers are expected to maintain a dps spec to do solo content is the dumbest thing ever.
Blizzard already provides damage capabilities for all healers. There is no need for a healer to spec or wear gear to DPS for solo content; sure it will take them longer to kill things, but modern healers will deal more damage than many DPS would have dealt back in vanilla while soloing.
And in most cases, tanks will complete most solo content by staying tank. Itâs generally faster to pull 7 packs and burn them all down as a tank than pull 1 tank at a time as DPS.
