The situation for mages in Midnight is so dire that several groups on LFG are already saying they don’t want mages. Blizzard, I understand you think this is a free game and it’s difficult to balance a class for both raid and m+, but I think… I just think… it’s not free.

You’re right. At the end of the day, Blizzard is confident most of the player base won’t actually cancel. People will reroll to another class and ride it out instead. Until players start voting with their wallets, nothing is going to change, and Blizzard will keep taking advantage of that.

that’s the funny part. most people here who are upset by blizzard’s decisions will complain but continue to play. go play something else in the meantime and perhaps they will finally listen in our absence

Idk what to tell you, I’ve never had to wait more than a few minutes to find a group and I am very particular about which dungeons I do because I am not interested in achievements and instead want to maximize voidcore usage to guarantee usable bonus loop. And I list as Arcane too.
Try to do keys 18+
To do +12 keys you can do it with even 2 dps

You literally couldn’t pay me enough to put myself through that, lol. Let alone for a recolored mount.
I’ve said this before but if you want to play at that level you simply cannot afford to play as anything other than the absolute optimized meta class/spec/race combo. If you do you’re not only setting yourself up for failure but also your group. It’s literally been like this forever, there are always underperforming classes and specs every season that are excluded from cutting edge content because of Blizzard’s ineptitude. This season it just so happens that mages are on that list.
Now if you can find a determined group of other misfits willing to endure all that pain, and again I ask why would you, that’s something else but you can’t expect it from random strangers in the group finder.

I think it falls under the fact that not only is this a pure dps specialization - it’s further exasperated by the fact that TWO of the specs are just dead and one barely meets the requirement for viable.

You made a point in another thread that the expansion release schedule they’ve adopted in order to boost earnings is the real enemy of their ability to properly tune classes. I would agree this seems like an accurate take.

It’s definitely a factor although even when they don’t rush things to meet some arbitrary timeline they still fumble on class balance every season. The rushed World Soul Saga patch cadence just exacerbated an already existing problem.
The underlying issue lies with how dated most of the original classes are and how their toolkits, both DPS and survivability, just aren’t suited for what the modern game has become. I don’t see that ever getting resolved unless we get a WoW 2.0 or a similarly massive overhaul not just to the talent system but literally everything.
Unfortunately, that’s highly unlikely to happen because they can’t put a fancy expansion pricetag on it and sell us a revamp of the game. And so they just keep churning out new content and continue to sweep long standing problems under the rug and kick the can down the road. I for one would happily give them $100 if they skipped an expansion and instead took the time to fix everything that’s wrong with the game and I am sure many other people would too but good luck convincing the corporate honchos of that.

I get into groups on my mage pretty easily. Try getting a warrior into groups. That’s an s show.

Class tuning and class design weren’t the only victims of their update cadence because the whole game has suffered because of it. Just take a look at how bugged new patches are launching.

I agreed. I have 18 resil and have been trying to get in 19 keys this past week. I would sit there all day and got 0 invite. I do not blame them tho. Imagine DK/DH/locks/BM hunters are easily pulling at least 20 to 40% of dps with more survivability. I will not give up!! Let’s play!

Warrior is in a great spot and they get invited to high keys. Generally the physical comp.
