i suppose it may sound that way. i’m not a big fan of them, but it works to entice carries that would otherwise have no inclination to rehash old content to do exactly that.
in the long run though i don’t know why more people don’t just have a guild
It encourages a full clear to get the payout. Due to the way instance ID lockouts work trying to finish a PUG raid once a few people leave is almost impossible. GDKP gives a strong incentive to stay until the end for a full clear. This is especially important when compared to HR/SR runs where once the last boss that drops an item you want dies, there isn’t any incentive to stick around for the entire clear.
It gives a reward even when you don’t get gear. Raid drop rates suck, and most raids you won’t get anything. GDKP makes running the raid feel better because you know even when you don’t win any loot, or nothing you want even drops, you still walk away with something worthwhile for your time.
It encourages geared players who otherwise don’t need loot from the raid to continue running it to help clears. Increases participation and number of pug raids that happen every week since there is still value in running them on mains.
Makes it so every raid you run that you don’t win something, you’re building gold (DKP) that makes it easier and more like I that you’ll be able to get something in the next raid.
RMT of course muddies it, and it would be a better game if RMT didn’t exist, but it plagues any online game with a significant player base.
I want RDF because its a wrath feature and is good. I am completely apathetic towards LFR. It doesn’t belong in Wrath and shouldn’t be added but I also don’t care if they decide to add it because it doesn’t hurt me in any way. If that makes any sense.
LFR has done more damage to wow than gdkps ever could
LFR is a plague on the game and should never have been introduced to retail ever.
It is the most toxic wastepit full of awful people who afk / purposely die / learn nothing… etc etc all for a chance at a significantly lower ilvl piece of gear.
lovely but at the end of the day i don’t care about LFR, i don’t know why anyone would wanna pug raids, especially in wrath, i can imagine every lock out in ulduar:
rando: “hey guys what does this ‘do not push’ button do? too late i pressed it”
but if that’s what you want that’s fine i don’t care. what i do care about is lfr isn’t rdf and the comment i was replying to claimed rdf would fix raids.
