Can we please have the option in Midnight to not have a permanent Ghoul? Especially now that we’re summoning Ghouls left right and centre.
Sure give us the option to keep it, but likewise I’d like to see an option without.

Timmy be like…

… You… probably made him cry.
Id like to ditch the perma ghoul too personally. Were the only “pet class” that has no option to ditch the “pet”
Probably because one of our major cooldowns keys off of it existing.
beast master hunter hav a petless option? what about demo locks? U wana ditch the pet play fdk, MM, or Aff. Unholy is a pet spec.
I give no Sh!ts about how Timmy feels!
Despite the sass I tend to agree with Asherr. Unholy is the “pet class” in the DK toolkit. Frost is there, all chilly and petless for you.
I would appreciate some ability to customize though beyond what few glyphs we have. If we do have to have a pet id like to feel some ownership over it.
sorry for the sass i was drunk xD pet customization would be dope af tho
That’s actually one of the reasons I don’t want a permanent Ghoul. Large amount of DK power is in the pet instead of the DK themself.
Our ghoul is currently a pretty small amount of our power, actually.
Youre contradicting yourself.
Either its
A) One of our major cooldowns
B) A pretty small amount of our power
It cant be both.
It can, actually!
DT technically is a major cooldown, just not a great one. If they want to though, they can solve that problem easily.
Personally I wouldn’t mind having the option to opt out of it. Constantly summoning lesser ghouls scratches the same itch in a better way. As long as we still have a 45s CD, preferably on the disease side, they can hook it up with the same talents that interact with DT and it’d be fine.
I agree with this.
With how… underwhelming the capstones are for Unholy. Imo, they could make the disease capstone something that does this itch.
Some ideas
Lose your ghoul, but in exchange, you gain a passive that makes your attacks/spells do X% additional damage as a new disease. or something.
But Dark Transform could be changed to “Plague Bringer” Runic Spending abilities put an “Intensity” stacking dot on your main target. (similar to how ignite worked.)
Not sure, but I really hope they do something more with the disease side of unholy.
Maybe more an agony mechanic that is refreshed off other DoT or Auto-Attacks. So that like as long as we’re in melee most of the time we’re holding onto thing extra ramping disease
I mean, it would be welcomed if only to force Blizzard to actually concept an appropriate mechanic for Unholy’s San’layn.
This blood beast nonsense is thematically obtuse.
San’layn is a thematic mess primarily because all of the san’layn were mages, so why the hell do we have a san’layn hero tree at all?
There was so much potential for Blizzard to subvert expectations and make this (San’layn) an unexpected Warlock Hero Talent tree, and introduce a cloth-based form of offensive Blood Magic (which is so desperately needed).
Truth be told, I don’t even necessarily know what DK’s Deathbringer is meant to be, either. It similarly also doesn’t harken to any kind of theme that makes me go “Oh! That!” from a boss, or NPC.
At the least, why did they not lean into Lana’thel’s bites of some sort? Or, here’s an even better one: San’layn could make Blooddrinker accessible on Unholy and have the hero talents revolve around this ability in some capacity. Gosh, there’s so much potential there. It’s maddening.
Anyway, that was my TED Talk.
Deathbringer is the Mal’thael hero tree, which while cool is not what I was expecting from the name (I was expecting Deathbringer Saurfang).
But it’s not really your pet like a warlocks demon is. A hunter tamed his pet. A warlock did a ritual to bind the demon to him. They summon the same ones every single time.
You raise a random corpse on the ground every time you bring your pet out. It has a different name and everything. It’s literally a random body every single time.
