Speak for yourself. Leveling on Herod as alliance was hell, but fun because there was always danger around the corner. I loved it. That was until the flipped layering back on and the world looks empty.
ITT: we continue to refuse to hold Blizzard accountable for managing their servers. If any server has a 7:3 ratio, Blizzard is exempt from any responsibility.
Honestly, the gaming population has grown weak. PvP servers bother gamers when gamers feel like they want an a) easier path or b) the safest of spaces. I don’t mean that politically, either. I see this attitude in so many games
Examples:
Fornite: Stop destroying ramps, No miniguns, Stop spamming, “You guys 2v1’d me” even though everybody was shooting everybody.
WoW: “PvP servers are too hard because of ganking.” “That’s not fair.”
“They’re too strong.”
The whole point of a game that involves warfare is that you build yourself up to eventually become a formidable warrior. Getting ganked? Figure it out. Call for help. Go somewhere else. Deal with it.
If I saw a group of horde on a trail, and I’m with my alliance crew, and none of us knew if we were going to get into a scrap or not, the world felt so much more alive and fun. Sometimes you’re the hammer, and sometimes you’re the nail.
Games used to have a limited number of lives instead of endless continues. Many gamers can’t emotionally handle when they are getting handled. They lack the fighting spirit that develops when dealing with difficulty.
You need to work out that atrophied muscle, and experience what it is like to jump into the fire and be formidable. When anything can happen, yet you still march forward and develop yourself, it’s so much more satisfying.
While I disagree with the overall premise of your post, I agree to a large extent with this part.
I’m watching the Mythic Dungeon Invitation right now, and missing running M+.
With regards to PVP realms, I think that a lot of people who should not have selected PVP realms did, and are attempting to force their preference for PVE realms on those who actually do prefer PVP realms, unfortunately.
Something that may help this sort of thing from happening in the future could be a simple naming change.
Rather than PVP and PVE realms, or PVP and Normal as Blizzard calls them, perhaps we could call them PVP (Forced) and PVP (Optional) realms.
Then people who would prefer to go pick herbs in front of 10 of the opposite faction, and would complain if they were attacked, because “imbalance” or “not a fair fight,” could properly select PVP (Optional) servers.
No. People wanted PvP realms. Just that most realms are heavily biased towards one faction and no one likes spending most of their time camped or dead.
Problem is most PvPers don’t want a “fair fight”. They simply want their purple shiny they “earned” so they can show their “skill”.
Statistically speaking, you’re insignificant. Many many players didn’t know what they were signing up for when they first joined pvp realms on classic launch. Many of those players either quit, or re-rolled onto pve servers. The remaining people all congregated into lopsided servers. Nobody wants fair fights, they want to slaughter the enemy and do as they please. PvP realms have and always will be a joke. Players who actually want world pvp for legit reasons are few and far between.
Everyone wants to WPvP until ol Holber shows up. Then everyone has to abandon the realm entirely. Even the biggest horde guilds are gone now. They just couldn’t handle my muscles.
