People will look it up when starting a character. If it was a decoupled talent choice, players would then experiment as they get comfortable with the class. With the current system they are more likely to never even try the other powers since there is so much investment in the Covenant grind you’re leaving behind.
Maybe I’d try to make my Night Fae actually work, except I want to still have my Necrolord power for when I am getting serious and know I need to be top of my game. Without that option there is no reason to nerf yourself in order to see if you can make a bad ability work.
