No new Mage hot fixes or class tunings, Jan 4

Looks like Blizz is letting us rot even more. Feels deliberate at this point.

Everyone says there won’t be class tunings but wasn’t there one 3 weeks ago? Did they just say, “Meh, look$ good. Let’$ call it a month!”

If Frost doesn’t get a significant tuning pass on single target by the end of January, I think you can safely say we’re “working as intended” right now.

The lack of communication is almost as bad as the state of the spec. I want to know who at Blizzard thinks the spec is in good shape, and why. They are certainly seeing the damage meters, and can tell the comps of the teams that are beating top-end content, and Frost is performing poorly in both. Are we back to the days where Frost was “the PvP spec?” And I ask that not even knowing how Frost does in PvP, because I don’t really care about PvP.

The crazy thing is, I tried to do what I thought was best for increasing single-target DPS: I took Comet Storm instead of Splitting Ice, and Ray of Frost instead of Thermal Void to give myself a ST nuke. But I’m still strong on AoE trash and decent enough on fights where it’s boss plus at least one add. Pure single target? I am pretty terrible, and it doesn’t seem like I’m alone.

Item level is 195-ish right now, and when I clear Torghast this week I’ll finally have enough ash to make a top-ilvl legendary. But I don’t know whether to go for something that would allegedly help my ST DPS, or just stick to what I’m good at and build the Fragments.

We’re all looking for a way to build/perform our way out of this mess, yet there doesn’t appear to be a way. And Blizzard isn’t talking. I just don’t see how we can maintain what viability we do have without some big help at this point.
