Oh, I see what you’re trying to do, I’m just ignoring it to tell you that you’re wrong and should stop talking.
Play both games and compare. If you can’t see that then you are willfully looking that the splinter on another persons foot while you have a plank in your eye.
You can mod all you want, the great thing about modding. It doesn’t affect ANYONE but you. When you take into consideration what happens when you change one little thing, let alone hundreds for each race/class for the entirety of the database and every player… Your “modding” looks real miniscule.
Read that reddit thread. It takes 1-3 minutes to do an entire hair swap, much less the 30 seconds it takes to do a hue shift on eye color.
These are crowd pleaser things on an expansion that isn’t getting great response. They are shooting themselves in the foot and showing they are tone-deaf.
Couldnt agree more. its a solid slap in the face.
maybe they just dont know how much we where hoping for allied race customizations or even some more ore customizations.
Dude they didnt even bring up allied races… dam shame
Yeah I think they again underestimated how behind they will be so working on any customizations for existing races has taken a back seat.
That said, nothing will beat the ‘dont you guys have phones’. That is cemented in time.
Honestly though, I don’t think there is a HUGE group voicing their wants for this customization stuff, I think it’s smaller but they have a loud voice about it.
Oh you sweet summer child you. I see you’ve never released stuff online. I see you’ve never had to deal with naming things certain ways to deal with mod incompatibilities with mod devs you’ve never spoken with. I see you’ve never had to release and troubleshoot works put out online
Myself mate? I’ve done it
Okay, let’s get technical shall we?
So the way Warcraft models work is you’ve the combination texture folder and the model itself. The model is where the hairstyles and what-not sit and you activate and de-activate them based on specific geometry, Geosets. Eyes however are just reading a new texture file.
Adding a new eye texture is as simple as making the texture, putting it into the right folder, and altering the model instructions to recognise the limit of eye colours goes from 12 to now 13, and that the new one you added is not an NPC specific eye colour so can be picked at character creation. Wham, blam, you’re done.
1-3 minutes for the hair swaps and such. That’s two people you can hire there that could use the job. Bring in a 3rd or 4th person that will actually look through all these character customization threads and pick out which ones are good or highly request, or even have a brand new art submission forum group where you can submit requests.
Boom, you just saved the main art team a lot of time and you just got 4-5 new positions open for people that could use the work in these trying times.
you’re a level 23. i play more than you.
i think i have a better idea of what the community wants than you. get to 60.
am i happy they’re walking back on a statement they made? no
am i satisfied with the level of customization options available to us currently? somewhat, but there’s some more minor things here and there like posture that i think should be added
am i happy that time/resources, no matter how trivial, small, or large are being directed towards gameplay systems/development? yes
We are in the middle of a pandemic. All businesses are hurting. Many People are out of work and can’t afford to play. That is why we are having a streaming BlissCon!
I disagree with this notion, if only because all of that time spent on the Shart of Azeroth was absolutely wasted dev time in the long run. The same will be said of Covenants in two years time.
You know what? If they would’ve said that no one would have an issue.
They didn’t though. They said they have no plans for it.
The devs communication was terrible. You made no point at all.
Okay, I understand the point of this thread now. You’re not getting what you want, so you make up and create fake narratives through bending words without context, wanting to only talk with people who agree with you specifically because you know that you’re wrong. And since you’re not going to get your changes anyway, what does it matter if you’re wrong. You’ll just be wrong and upset with people who are also wrong and upset so you can feel better about yourselves together. I can’t possibly fathom having quotes and interviews freely available, and STILL being able to say to myself “haha they didn’t say that :D” and be okay with it. This is just a circle jerk of agreeing with each others irrational thinking.
Whether it’s easy to add or not is something different completely and I don’t know and I am okay with being wrong in that specific point. But the fact that they never “promised”(Which so many ppl say for some reason) customizations this xpac outside of the launch/prepatch, still remains a fact. Read their words for what they are, don’t bend words to fit what you want. And with that being said, time to go be a guard. Come bother us in SW City Hall on MG.
I agree with you. This notion was allways terrible in my view.
not to sound entitled here and while this whole thing does rub me the wrong way, they did say multiple times that the new customizations were very well received, and that there would be more during shadowlands. what other way is there to interpret this?
Its a troll looking for attention. Don’t’ fall for its bait lol.
its amazing how a single person can pull it off so good but blizzard not wanting to do it because of laziness probably and crushing hopes of their community after promising stuff and then backing up
nightborne players suffered for entire expansion (BFA) and now 2 expansions of lacking options, 2 expansions of constantly giving feedbacks and suggestions and then getting ignored with that “nah we did good enough for the next 2 years, have fun” 2 entire expansions i hope for at least some love giving for nightborne
for how long it can continue? no matter how many ideas we give, they all ignored and brushed off
it’s a lose-lose situation regardless because even if they focus on fixing core issues they won’t be a problem anymore in a year or two, or if they do, it detracts resources from elsewhere
personally i’d prefer if in the short term they made the game suck less, even if it’s by small degrees over time
That’s reasonable. But really creating customizations dosen’t even need the same people for those jobs and also dosen’t need a lot of people dedicated to it.
There is no conflict.
They could have a small team and for example make at least little updates here and there with larger patches (for the different races).
