And I agree, people with that stance are being overly uncharitable.

But you also need to account for draconic races in WoW having a certain precedent for their aesthetic that Dracthyr do not adhere to. Even among people that want to play as a dragon, Dracthyr might not do anything for them. And at the same time, we have new Drakonid models that look fantastic. If Dragonflight isn’t the “right” time for them, when is? And the same question goes for all the other expansion-related races that received new models.

Allied races made sense in Battle for Azeroth because every race has to pick either “Horde” or “Alliance”. Even Pandaren are forced to pick one or the other.

With relative peace existing between the factions now, “Allied Races” don’t make as much sense. “Neutral Races”? Maybe. “Allied”? No.

It’s not. It’s the female Worgen rig. Which is the same rig used for the incubus, as well. And having a reused Human and Belf body with a new head that has duck lips and looks like something out of some chibi anime… it’s like putting a Barbie head on an old G.I. Joe doll.

And again… when there’s only one class to play with only two roles… some people aren’t interested.

The same can be said about other allied races. Mechagnomes weren’t very popular among many people but others liked it. Allied races are never going to be a guarantee to everyone’s liking.

Yeah, some people never created allied races either. I know lots of people who didn’t create mechagnomes, or vulpera, so what? Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean other people won’t.

Taken in isolation, they do not appeal to everyone. But that’s why Mechagnomes were introduced under the greater concept of Allied Races. The point of the system is to broaden our options - not every option is going to appeal to everyone. But if you add enough options? Odds are, there will be something for everyone.

I like Dracthyr. But it is such a narrow concept. And if that doesn’t appeal to you? Or hell, if dragons don’t appeal to you? What are you looking forward to? Allied Races are an avenue to giving people an answer to that question, so they are right to be upset if that avenue is not going to be travelled.

Thallia, you are clearly biased and being overly negative about everything and you know it. It’s a new race, and a new class, yet you are complaining there are no new races. The amount of customizations, animations, and skills are insane for the Dracthyr and Evoker. I can understand you don’t like it but don’t say lies, everyone who played the game so far agrees that the race wasn’t low effort, in fact they want Blizzard to bring other races to the same level of customizations and animations.

And yet there are tons of different classes they can be and roles. Go make a lowbie. 90% of the people leveling are doing so on AR.

I don’t disagree with you on that. I love allied races. I just don’t think they should all be added in the same patch. I’m OK if they introduce some new races every now and then. I’ve missed them in SL, but hey, I’m getting a new race option and class too in DF. Soon, there might be others, who knows.

For alliance players it was. It came in at a later patch in BFA, not at launch. Just like other allied races.

And to put a point on the end of the conversation, I’ll just say that I’m glad you’re able to give Ion and Blizzard the benefit of the doubt. I want to be in that place, but I need a few more reasons to do so.

Rogue as a class represent more then someone stealthy. They also represent pirates.

Fair point but my point still stands, not everyone will like a new allied race either, like it happened in BFA with Mechagnomes.

Yeah maybe they won’t add anything. Maybe they’ll do. We’ll see. I’m just glad they added a new race and class at launch. That was just my point. Hopefully we will see more in the future.

True, Thallia. I agree with you. I’d love a new allied race. Hopefully we’ll see more in the future. But I know that at launch some people will be glad with a new race and class. I’ll also wait for my turn for when Tuskarr becomes a new playable race.
