They stated that was their objective. They pulled it off once with Dark Rangers. But it will take more than that to have me giving them the benefit of the doubt again.
Which, Iâm not going to lie, I love that sort of stuff. I know if infuriates other people because they get really excited for news, but, I like the sudden surprises. So, not everything has to be spoiled for me. I like the idea of logging in one day, to the game or forums, and just finding out something interesting. This is why the raids in SL being a secret were fantastic in my opinion. But, thatâs just me.
I need to be careful in my phrasing here, because I love the level of recent communication and interviews weâve been getting recently. That being said, I like being surprised - I do not like being misled. A technical turn of phrase does not change the feeling of being deceived.
Right.
As much as I want them, they arenât coming.
When he says âthere are no current plansâ. thatâs it, itâs a no for the foreseeable future.
You have to remember they plan things and start working on them years in advance so if they had intended to do it, they would have been working on it long ago.
Welp, thatâs a no , one less reason to be hyped.
Sethrak or we riot.
It looks like they got another model for DF.
Not all that disappointed by that, after all we are getting one new race with it. I would rather they focus upon getting the expansion right and they have a metric ton of work to get the talents balanced (hell, having one for each class would be a great start) and really donât need to get into the weeds on non essential stuff at this point.
Dragonflight is looking paltry.
Theyâre just rushing this game out. Iâm officially convinced.
Agreed. This is the model going forward. They will add core races where it makes sense and instead of allied races add more customization to existing races in the interim. Itâs likely easier to do customization because you donât need new racial abilities, dances, voice lines, etc. I think they have said ânever say neverâ but thatâs basically as good as saying itâs not going to happen.
No, thatâs completely fair. I do like surprises, I like a good tease, but a lie is very different.
To be fair wasnât this the group that said they had no plans for adding in dark ranger customization literally like 2 or 3 weeks before they added in dark ranger customization?
Lie is a strong word. Lying is unacceptable. Misleading isnât quite there, but it is still distasteful.
Thank gods. There are too many already.
OK back to wow cows. Real cows make noise depending on what they walk on. (Experience speaks here). Now if you ever watch wow cows they walk on only hind feet. Which automatically puts then on their toes. Have you ever walked on your toes? I do whenever I want to sneak up on my cats, dogs, and children (boy did the hate that). So wow cow would make a great rogues.
They could always go full bore on the âsubraces.â
Because concentrating on the new, shiny race in Dragonflight isnât enough for you all, isnât it?
Allied races are a failed concept that just served the purpose of stealing customizations from other races and gave Blizzard more work to do than was necessary.
I mean, itâs a pretty narrow fantasy. It appeals to me, but if itâs not your thing? If dragons arenât your thing? What are you looking forward to?
I would argue that it gave them reason to give us those options at all.
They could prove me wrong and give Orcs Dragonmaw and Fel skins, give Dwarves Frost and actual Wildhammers, give Goblins Gilgoblins, Gnomes Leper Gnomes, and so on on a whim⌠but I donât think theyâre interested in doing that. Even if a few of these options are literally just a matter of enabling an existing option.
They want the pomp and circumstance around what is nevertheless a relatively low investment addition.
Iâm not surprised theyâre not adding any new allied races. I think allied races were mainly a BFA expansion-specific feature.
We didnât see any new allied races in SL, weâre not seeing any in DF, and likely we wonât see any new ones added ever again.
