I raid Mythic and max out my vault every week. I always viewed the ability to upgrade Heroic appearances to Mythic appearances as bad luck protection for the people who do raid Mythic and run keys +10 and higher, with the caveat that the Mythic appearances are available to players who do lower difficulty content, which I never minded because the pros significantly outweighed the cons.
Will the item drop? Will I win it? Will competition for this item depreciate over time? Will I be able to get it before my guild calls off reclears?
When the answer is no to some or all of the above, upgrading to obtain the appearance you want becomes the only alternative to pugging with an endless stream of randoms who will always need everything, or waiting however many years for the raid to become soloable.
Sure, with the ability to farm catalyst charges coming in Midnight, this issue only applies to weapons and tier set appearances from classes other than your own which we can also acquire via the cosmetic tokens that we unlock from the raid renown track, but how many youâre able to get, again, also depends on how many reclears you do.
Thatâs better than nothing, of course, but itâs not as ideal as the current system imo. Keep in mind I am a bit biased as a Demonology Warlock main. If I want a 2H for my mog collection and for my Felguard, thatâs more farming and less time spent doing more enjoyable things.
This is actually us staying on point. Iâve personally criticized Ion since WoD. He doesnât play every aspect of this game and yet heâs gutting parts of it. He only raids. Thatâs literally all he does. He doesnât even transmog his gear. Someone like that with that much tunnel vision should not be in charge of the entire game. He needs to go back to designing raids and leaving the rest of the game to someone who plays ALL aspects of it.
He probably isnât. From Metzen we know that even the story department is kind of âdemocratizedâ, the team is making the decisions. I heavily doubt that Ion himself came into the office one morning and said âSo⌠guys. Letâs remove transmog for casual players, this will be great.â.
Yeah I think he gets quite a lot of undue hate. Criticism for the game is fine, but people can be really vitriolic towards him and Iâve never found it to be a nice thing to do.
Like yes, this transmog change sucks â but that doesnât mean Ion is some boogeyman or that he called the shot himself. He isnât even anywhere remotely close to somebody like Kotick either. Heâs pretty chill and intelligent in my eyes, I like him. People can call me crazy if they want, but thatâs how I feel.
Again, not trying to say we shouldnât be vocal about how much we dislike this change â but we can still be respectful about it.
I went back during season 1 of TWW to group for Aberrusâ mythic. Usually I wouldnât bother as Iâm rarely interested in tier sets but that was a standout priest one.
No, the solution is to give out more catalyst charges, which theyâre doing. Problem solved. But thatâs besides the point, because thatâs not the reason theyâre making this change. Idk what their reasoning is, but I guarantee itâs not because people are complaining about using catalyst charges. Like how does that even make sense?
It took a few months pugging. I think I had a couple pieces from DF which helped and b y the end I bought some boe shoulders off the AH just to finish as it was becoming tedious.
Point of fact, there are two changes being made. One has to do with the unlocking of lower levels of the tier set when completing a set, which also has a bearing on player power so I donât think they should change that part.
The second change is the one most people here are actually complaining about (myself included), which is about the catalyst not granting the tier looks in the first place. That is a massive change (which has nothing whatsoever to do with any player power) from the way itâs been in Dragonflight and TWW, and has been an alternative way those of us who do delves get our tier appearances. Again, nothing at all to do with power, simply collecting a transmog set.
Itâs the latter part that people are pissed off about, and with good reason⌠not just mythic gear players, but players at all levels. This will reduce the incentive to do delves at all â because getting the highest player power when doing solo activities, like a vast number of delve players do, doesnât really mean all that much.
This is a very bad, needlessly punitive buzzkill decision, and I truly hope they are changing it before Midnight releases.
Are we sure this is an actual thing? The ability to farm catalyst charges is a patch addition (11.2.5, not Midnight), and I donât recall anyone saying anything about this continuing into the expansion. Certainly, thereâs no reason to think that a change like this is permanent⌠just like Turbo Boost or Overcharged Delves, which only lasted one patch each.
Why exactly? Most mogs are a dime-a-dozen at this point, including tier. They arenât really anything special.
Also, if you shouldnât be able to get mythic tier appearances from delvesâŚthen why should you be able to get LFR, champion, or heroic tier appearances from delves?
Other than âit gives X trackâ what is the logic behind being able to get tier appearances from delves at all?
They also give a sick recolor (sometimes) for getting 1800 (used to be 2100+) in PvP by attaining the rating in any bracket. I know Iâll never be able to mythic raid but Iâm definitely able to get rating in PvP for a different color. The only thing I wish blizzard would do is go back to Horde/Alliance colors for regular PvP.
I kind of donât care for the Mythic colors for Paladin this season, but that Normal and Heroic color scheme for Paladins that completely fit Human Paladin and Blood Elf Paladin colors? Would have been great for regular PvP gear and they could have done neutral colors for PvE.
Sure, you can complain and say âbut that gives those colors if you do PvP!â my brother in christ itâs not hard to get Honor points or Conquest points going forward, the only annoying thing is that you wonât be able to get all the appearances in one shot grinding the points compared to looting it in PvE (outside of converting).
But anyways, this issue is mainly for PvE, and in a way Iâm 50/50 on it but to be frank Iâm 75% not happy about the change and 25% in a âwhateverâ state because I donât do mythic. I already had my outrage about the elite set requirement in PvP dropping from 2k and 2.1k down to 1800 (because if I really, really liked a certain elite appearance I would push to the required rating and it being at 2k-2.1k requirement gave me a reason to push duelist), but this is kinda stupid of a change since itâs been already introduced to people for the past few expansions to get additional appearances from upgrading (canât do the upgrade for appearance thing in PvP). Iâm going to miss getting Heroic appearances from upgrading PvE gear.
I am just overly thrilled that I will not have to set a single foot in LFR to complete an alternate raid set for any of my characters. On the other hand, I do see this having a negative effect on queue times and participation in LFR.
I do still think gear should upgrade to the base level of the next tier to unlock the appearance. Any higher should then require the drop from that tier of content. IMO of coarse.
This is not a good change. Why limit looks to people who can mythic raid? Some of us cannot-especially with addons going away (disabled). But we can do heroic just fine and if we earn the currency to upgrade, why gatekeep looks?
(Deleted my previous post because I hit the wrong âReplyâ button. Oops!)
So this means if you donât save Myth-track off pieces (wrists, boots, belts, cloak) to catalyse after a tier is over the only way to obtain them is to do old raids or wait until two expansions later to finish a set?
Also, in practise, collectors might face a scenario where theyâll want to pick an off piece from the Vault for TMog purposes, even if itâs not an upgrade, because thereâs no guarantee the slot for X will show up again.
This is poorly thought out. I mean, hooray for the downward unlocking feature at last (something I and many players asked for), but changing the current TMog upgrade process is stupid without a way for us to target non-chest/helm/shoulder/pants items.
How about letting us catalyse crafted off-pieces as a solution?
