No more myth transmog appearances from heroic upgrades in Midnight

So according to the Midnight Alpha development notes, upgrading items will no longer change their appearance (see below). This means that upgrading hero level items from Delves or the vault can not unlock mythic armor transmogs.

It was fun while it lasted and helped prolong the seasons for me after beating the Delve Nemesis bosses. Oh well. The other changes below to transmog unlocks are great at least.

“Fully collecting a class set’s appearances now unlocks all lower difficulty variants. For example, collecting all Mythic appearances will automatically unlock the Heroic, Normal, and Raid Finder variants while unlocking Heroic would only unlock Normal and Raid Finder, etc. Eligible sets will be marked as such in the set collection UI. This change is retroactive to all legacy content. Items will no longer change their appearance when upgraded.”

Hmm this is a bummer. Oh well back to waiting to unlock Myth looks until two expansions later I guess.

I love the changes except the upgrading part. I enjoy getting hero pieces and upgrading for the appearances but guess I’ll actually have to do more than delves now shrug

Plus it’s alpha, who knows if it’ll change.

Hopefully. I could see Mythic raiders being unhappy non mythic raiders can collect sets while they are “current” though the Heroic track stats are lower. Maybe some compromise can be reached for instance once the new tier is out the previous transmog can be collected or something.

Wow, another fantastically stupid change by Blizzard. What a surprise.

There was nothing wrong with people being able to unlock an appearance. It’s not like people still use what people have geared as a way of knowing what content they do. That’s been long gone from the game.

I actually dislike the current system.

I should not have Mythic appearances unlocked simply because I got and upgraded hero pieces from Delves.

I just got a pair of Mythic track pants from my vault today. I had already upgraded the Heroic pants to 8/8, so I did not unlock the Mythic appearance, I already had it.

Heck I actually think getting Mythic track from anything other than a Mythic raid is bonkers, but thats just me.

This is a huge bummer. I truly hope the devs change their minds here. Hate feeling like we’re going backwards and having to wait two expansions to do transmog runs then.

Good. Shouldn’t have been able to to begin with.

I dunno I don’t high end anything anymore but it seems like high M+ should as well.

Only from vault. It would have to have a weekly lockout for it to drop at the end of a dungeon.

Isnt this what weve been asking for?

Collecting the full set will now unlock all the vusuals from lower tiers!! If a Mythic raider gets all the pieces, they will never need to make alts and run lfr for the lower tier mogs.

The amount of geared players in LFR will drop as they no longer have a need for anything there. All the rolling complaints about someone more geared winning the roll will lessen.

Sure that makes sense.

Just adding that I too am not a fan of that change, the tmog was a main reason for me to keep running delves.

That’s the good part, the bad part imo is that upgrading gear no longer unlocks the appearance of the tier higher.

I mean they are linked but I think separate functionalities ie the learning everything below a gear level and not being able to get the next level up when upgrading.

Blizzard simply cannot make a positive change without adding negative ones.
