No More Fire Totems

The removal of Liquid Magma Totem means shamans will no longer have a fire totem at all, and the fire totem models will be completely unused. Why?

Probably because they can’t find a good way to fit in Fire totems for Ele Sham.

It isn’t true that Shamans won’t have a fire totem at all though. Totemic has Searing Totem which is a fire totem and it spawns all the time. So enh/resto get access to that I believe, or at least Enh does for Searing Totem. Ele is the only spec that won’t have a fire totem at all which imo is fine, doesn’t really fit the gameplay ele has and I’d rather them continue focusing on and refining gameplay around Eles mastery which is the most unique thing about it.

Technically fire totems still happen if ur playing enh totemic.
Problem is that u hardly ever notice when it’s up since it does pitiful damage even if u optimize for it.

I wish they would bring totems back in a meaningful way for all specs. I loved back in WotLK and Cata when u had totem loadouts for CotA, etc and it brought so much flavor to the class.

They might as well just go ahead and make HST the old version where it lasted 5 minutes, especially since SST is going to be the apex and won’t consume a charge when used if/when u max it out.

I just logged in to this shaman and noticed that. Also I can’t manually summon fire elemental anymore.

Yea this sucks and is TOTALLY Against the shaman they are element based sorry GIVE THEM BACK BLIZZ earth air FIRE and water are the primary elements or are you hoping your long time players will just come to hate the game for the stupid choices you make?

I don’t get it. What’s the point of even posting if it just sounds like you’re whining like a kid lol. There’s no way they read that and think “yea this sounds good”.

Fire totems being absent from shaman (they aren’t btw, totemic has searing totem) is not a huge deal. However what does suck is that Shaman especially Ele and Enhance have completely lost an element this expansion in their design which is Ice/Frost. It would be nice to get some glyphs to reskin some things into ice abilities if we want. For example Voltaic Blaze could be Icy Blaze, Lava Lash could be Ice Lash, Earth Shield glyph to make it an Icy Shield, Earth Ele glyph to make it an Ice Elemental, etc.

The class tree also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of Elements. There are barely any actual element centric abilities in the class tree. I’d like to see more done with that.

Yep. Totems are a cool class specific and defining ability. I actually liked putting searing totem down before they removed it. It’s like poisons for rogues. People complain about them but for the fantasy of the class is amazing.

Really sad to lose so many totems. Very slowly over time Shaman as a class transitioned from totem / spiritual users into pure elemental casters.

Totems are basically all niche utility now like earthbind or capacitor. Healing stream being the only one that gets used regularly by Resto. If they are so concerned with button bloat, then at the very least I wish they would add totems procs somewhere for the whole class to have access to. Totemic enhance is cool and I like summoning crit damage totems in PvP but I want them all the time.

Theme:
Instead of a simple fire totem, the shaman calls upon the deep earth, rupturing the ground and unleashing a surge of molten fury.

:volcano: Visual & Fantasy

When summoned, the totem slams into the ground, cracking the earth beneath it. A violent eruption bursts outward, creating a seething lava field around the totem’s location. The ground glows with molten fissures, magma bubbles, and waves of heat distortion rising into the air.

Occasional bursts of flame erupt from the lava patch, reinforcing the feeling that the earth itself is enraged.

Molten Ground (Area Effect):

  • Creates a large patch of lava at the totem’s location.

  • Enemies standing in the lava take sustained fire damage.

  • While inside the molten area, enemies suffer 50% reduced healing received.

  • Leaving the area removes the healing reduction after a short delay (e.g., 2 seconds).


:collision: Bonus Interaction Ideas (Optional Enhancements)

  • Volcanic Pulse: Every few seconds, the lava surges, dealing a burst of damage.

  • Ashen Brand: Enemies who remain inside too long gain a stacking burn effect.

  • Elemental Synergy: If the shaman casts a lightning spell into the lava, it causes an explosive overload effect.

  • Totemic Overload (PvP Talent idea): The totem can be reactivated to cause the lava field to erupt, knocking enemies slightly upward.


:bullseye: Gameplay Identity

  • Area denial tool.

  • Anti-healing zone for clutch PvP moments.

  • Forces repositioning in battlegrounds and arenas.

  • Strong visual presence that feels powerful and primal.
