No Lore QA thread? (Jan 10th Lore and Story stream)

Sylvanas will get a redemption arc. All the evil things she has done will be written off to her being controlled/heavily influenced by Xal’atath. She will be a key component to defeating N’Zoth, dragging him (it?) to whatever personal hell she’s destined for, having (by then) run out of Val’kyr to take her place.

Change my mind.

When the official news page has currently, four articles on the front, one being a store mount and the other three being the same topic of 8.1, it’s not very communicative. Most people have to search for said news elsewhere, be it Wowhead, MMOchampion, ect.

It’s not an impressive number https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/groups/community-manager

It’s sad to say but it’s likely the truth - the forums are the least of Blizzard’s worries when it comes to necessary communication with the players. /taurencry

My theory is with that leak of 8.3 a while back of Sylvannas turning the tables on the alliance. With reference to war of thorns Elune being unable to aid with Sylvannas nearby. Makes me believe she has Xalatath already its not being shown until 8.3 . My assumption is that with Elune playing a key role. Leading up to 8.3 we might see more of Elunes involvement. Were as in 8.3 Sylvannas is likely to use the dagger to try to imprison Elune within. Thus making the new found powers of Tyrande weaken. If that happens then Sylvannas might be able to use the power of Elune while shes imprisoned in the dagger. That would be something viewed as turning the tables. Not only that threw the power of elune, whose to say she couldn’t then control Genn and the worgen. I don’t feel likes its N’zoth . It could either be Elune or Helya that Sylvannas imprisons. Helya imprisoned would give Sylvannas more Valkyr in which Alex and Danuser might be wanting to do . Sylvannas doesn’t deserve a redemption story , she just needs to die like Garrosh.

I personally don’t go to the forums for news because blizzard doesn’t share anything here. Though I did find out about this Q&A from a story forum thread, so it is at least sometimes useful.

No offense, but I kinda feel like Blizzard is confusing “communication” with “broadcasting.”

Broadcasting is a 1-way street. Posting news articles or blogs, or tweets is mostly broadcasting. Yeah we can leave comments on the articles/blogs/tweets but they aren’t really the best way to hold an actual conversation between Blizzard and the players.

Communication is a 2-way street. Forums are the best place for communication currently available. It allows for Blizzard and players to post thoughts more than 140 chars log and have real conversations.

I don’t have the analytics data in front of me like Blizzard does, to know which platform receives the most views. So maybe sending out a tweet or writing a blog post or something reaches the most people initially. But I strongly believe if you want real, meaningful communication between you and the players, the forums is the place to go.

So maybe initially broadcast on blogs, articles, tweets, etc. - whatever has the biggest audience (or in reality - broadcast to all platforms), but funnel them to the forums for actual discussion.

My 2 cents.

Well the reason I say N’Zoth is because we know Queen Ashzara is going to come into play, and we know it is N’Zoth is the power (or beginning / root of it, anyways) behind her and the naga.

While on this topic, does anyone have a link to the Official News Page? I can’t find it on the new forum.

Not to sound conspiratorial, but I think Blizzard developers aren’t entirely honest when they divulge that. I don’t doubt that sometimes, it’s not the most-viewed. But it’s still a huge chunk of readership and choosing not to put it on the forums is a little shady.

I agree; however, on something like this, I don’t really see how they’d skew the facts there. Let’s be honest, whenever anyone needs help with the game, the first place folks check are wowhead or other sites.

I want to think the official forums would be the best but there’s hardly any official guides posted. Just players discussing or arguing with each other.

I never see links to the forums in the launcher or on the front page of the main site. I always see links to articles/blogs. And there are also twitter links there, too.

So I’m actually not surprised that those places get more views than the forums, nor do I think they are being shady with those claims.

I think the problem was given by Ian himself about not making World First Races bigger thing, Blizzard already told us “We’ll let the community handle these things”. That’s why we don’t see nearly as much information on the forum as compared to WoWhead, Icyveins, MMOChampion and such.

Very difficult to actually find anything on the News Page with its current layout. Wish I could just get rid of the outdated news at the top of the page and have a more succinct list of what is happening right now. Though Cross-posting in the forums would be the best solution. Without this topic, I never would have known this is going on. It isn’t on the home page and I have to scroll quite a bit on the News page to see it. The headline images take up too much space.

Navigating there from the forums is even more of a pain. You’d think that you can click “news” in the header and be taken to World of Warcraft News. Unfortunately, it takes you to the Blizzard site and the news rarely has anything to do with the current state of the game.

Well, people tend to gravitate to places where they can actually get news. The choice to take information elsewhere simply says to the player base that THEY do not have much interest in these forums and don’t want to use it as a means of communications with the players…at least not players who actually utilize these forums.

Maybe others view it differently, but this is how it has seemed to be for me for quite some time now.

It has not always been this way.

Very much so. These forums are supposed to be a source of communication between Blizzard and players, when something as big and contentious as a lore Q&A rolls around, this information should be made available for the players.

If not…then why have the forums at all? There is a reason we have the Twitter sticky, a blog sticky should be a no brainer.

Realistic you mean.

Or some people like different aspects of the game and you can deal with a stream finally about this other aspect whereas most other QnAs constantly cover gameplay and never lore…?

Honestly some people can act very selfish sometimes. They specifically said it would be a lore stream last QnA. You all can deal with another aspect of the game finally getting looked into. Not everything has to be centered around you.

This also was probably why the forums weren’t asked, because of people like yourself.

Bornakk, not to be mean, but after the Q and A was done we were told that some of the questions in that thread would be addressed at a later stage.

That isnt the case now?

They will. I guarantee it will be destroyed by the giant cannon in Azshara.

Okay: sure, heres one.

Given the vast amount of work done by the Alliance on the behalf of both the Nightborne and the Highmountain Tauren, given that as heads of our respective Orders we fought to help both of them, and that because of us, Suramar is free and Mayla Highmountain now leads a free people, how does the lore in any way explain them turning on us almost overnight?

As the head of my Order, I stood besides Mayla as Ebonhorn proclaimed her leader of her people, that were it not for us and all we did at the Nightwell, Elisande and the Legion would still hold sway?

Why and how does the lore in any way justify their decision not to be neutral?

Given that the heroes of BOTH sides fought on their behalf ,we then had the courage to stand against the Titans at Argus and Antorus in a war we stood a good chance of losing, how can either race justifiably throw aside in a heartbeat what we did…and renege on the debt of honour they said they owed us?

All because of a few comments Tyrande made?

How does this make any kind of sense?

Her actual words

Arcanist Thalyssra. I remember where your order stood in the [War of the Ancients., How do we know you won’t betray us and become the next Elisande?

How is this unfair or unreasonable? Its a serious question. Did we depose one dictator to have another take her place?

Hell, half my guild asked the same thing, how do we know we can trust Thalyssra?

and here

The kaldorei will fight to see the Legion defeated and the Nightwell destroyed. Beyond that… we shall see where Elune’s wisdom guides us.

Thats not “we dont like you we dont trust you go join our enemies”, that’s “we are in a war and we will see how this goes.”

She says she is keeping an open mind and so Thalyssra just flounces off in a tizzy…after we saved her, rebuilt her home, helped her grow the Arcandor to save her people from Withering…we did all that and she just gets huffy after a few well chosen but cautious words?

From a lore standpoint…why?
