People are quitting SoD crazy fast this phase. The new raid is hard (which is fine imo) but it doesn’t give enough to the players to make it worth their time. The current loot drops from each boss are atrocious. It is just plainly not good. Either drop more tier, drop more chalices, or drop more off tier pieces. We need something to kick in the dopamine to want to be here raiding each week and most of the community is not getting it. Do something to make this phase better. I like the challenge but I also like to have fun and get rewarded for the effort. There is minimal fun and minimal reward at the moment. Not a single person is going to complain if more loot drops. Help your player base. We need more.
Side-note:
Make the mobs drop more gold/silver. Nobody wants to run around and farm things just to be able to afford their consumes for a single raid. You’re making gold buying relevant again.
The only numbers I was able to find online showed that there has been next to no change in the overall raider population for the past month.
Some guildies were arguing about this topic with one saying people are quitting like crazy and the other saying the population hasn’t changed, so I was just curious to see the data for myself is all.
This response is very uncomforting and is disregarding his feelings. Stop looking at numbers and look at the people around you. Everyone ik is geared and 8/8. That makes ur statistics wrong because what I see is different. Anyone who disagrees with this is an elitist loser or a casual Andy (whatever side you dislike)
Disclaimer: this is a meme post because classic Andy’s take everything literal for some reason and don’t see this is me memeing on the same individuals who constantly say this stuff.
People are not quitting in mass. The raid numbers are going up week over week and there were 3 layers on a Monday night last night. Another doomer post to disregard, next.
Lol. From the multiple guilds I am in and other guilds I am friends with is where my perspective comes from. My raid teams have lost members. Friends have quit and moved onto classic anniversary or Oblivion Remastered (goated) instead of sticking it out 1 night a week for SE. Higher performing raid teams probably aren’t having this problem. Guilds that do Loot Council instead of SR system probably aren’t having this problem. But when you can’t clear with 20 (most guilds can’t, look at warcraftlogs for data) and you bring in pugs that are now taking loot out of your raid team just so you can clear farther it creates a problem with how much loot we are getting. For a 20man raid team the loot is probably fine. For 30-40 man raid team the loot is awful. We are not at a place where most guilds can clear with 20. I doubt we will be at 50%+ this week or next. I wish my 20man raid team was good enough to clear 8/8 each week but it isn’t and most aren’t. For the more casual playerbase (the majority) we need a little more to get us there. I like the challenge. I like that it’s difficult to clear. I am having a good time in that aspect. I am not having a good time with 3 tier pieces (1 from weekly) and 2 weapon drops (4 total raid drops) a month into the phase and also being one of the better off loot-wise on the team. Not cool. Not a good time.
Kind of a weird troll response to a genuine question for OP, but you do you. I just was genuinely curious how the community as a whole was reacting to the raid from a numbers standpoint is all.
Literally just go look at number of raiders logged on warcraft logs. They are the same now vs naxx. Sod is at a steady level of players. You can just do the research yourself and find his claim has no backing.
Yeah that’s why I asked if he had anywhere that represents this data since I’ve seen this claim made a variety of times on the forums that people are “quitting in mass”. Just wanted to see if there is any truth behind that.
The number of active layers has gone down, its really hard to give an actual number since its not disclosed but it is very apparent that interest has significantly declined due to what the developers did with SE
Yeah, but that could also just be raid logging and not much to do outside of the raid anymore if people are done farming.
Agreed, that’s why I was asking if OP had any sources for me. I’m really curious if the numbers are actually going down or if a lot of people are just disgruntled, but still obsessed enough with the game that they haven’t threw in the towel.
My guess is that there hasn’t really been a drop yet but that there could be if we have multiple more weeks go by with no communication from the blizzard team. Guess we will have to wait and see.
That doesn’t mean much in SoD lol. There are a ton of raids available that people are doing each week and if I had to wager, I’d say the majority of overall logs aren’t even for SE.
Does it also consider alts or just by account basis? I run on two toons and sometimes three if I don’t have anything else going on. I’m thinking that’ll scuff those numbers. But in my on personal experience I have had friends and guildies quit SoD since phase 8 launch with the reason “SE sucks” “raid is too hard” “not worth my time”. If you don’t have this experience then congrats you have nothing to worry about but at the same time they added just added more loot the SE probably for the reason I am describing.

Vanilla had to split with 40 people. People barely received loot but kept going.
Here are Jeff Kaplans quotes
And people LOVED Vanilla WoW. It became what it is today. You think you want the loot. But it’s jealousy is what you are feeling. The loot system is already nerfed and gives people participation epics. When you receive a piece of gear it’s meant to feel like a lottery win. This is how Vanilla is and how it should continue with SoD and Classic+.
