Am I crazy for wondering how on earth Blizzard are yet to communicate what is happening with the AQ gates? It seems 95% of the Classic team only care about SOD or at least the people behind it are the only ones left who care.
Based on the timeline (and how they moved things forward) P5 should be dropping sometimes early to mid July.
Yet we haven’t heard anything about their plans? Meanwhile people are farming away for an outdated War Effort that almost nobody cares about. There is no fun in farming 1 billion Linen.
Maladath server will die if it’s not forcibly opened, a lot of people will quit rather than play with 200 ping.
Player retention will crash if people will have to wait 2 months+ to raid AQ40.
Could you surprise me for once Blizzard and actually provide some clear communication on what will happen come Phase 5?

A. SoD is dead and isn’t receiving updates
B. The classic team is working on MoP launch.
C. Nobody cares about OCE
D. I love how maladath doesn’t have enough ppl to open the gates (which is bs) and them not being able to open will somehow result in “a lot” of players quitting.
Which one is it. Is there not enough people or will a lot of players quit. Can’t be both.

“I rolled on OCE realm even though I knew the population would drop off immensely after day 3. I knew there would be an issue with P5 but 100% Blizzard needs to fix this. We demand the gates be opened once NA open theirs otherwise I’m quitting. Either open the gates at the same time as NA or change the item requirements to reflect the population (which they’ve never done). I know I could have just rolled on NA, but I’m stubborn and will die on this OCE hill”.

Ignorant response. Look at the history of updates SOD has had 95% of the attention.
False equivalents. There isnt enough on both sides for the gates to be opened esrly, yet still enough for plenty to leave.
It doesnt have to be either one, silly arguement.
If you leave the gates closed for a long time, lots of people can get bug mounts.
AQ 20 / 40 are kinda placeholder content anyhow, just wait for naxx

What would they need to plan for? The phase launches and we have to open the gates. That’s the game.
Same sentence, yet these two things have nothing to do with each other. Maladath should have never been launched anyway. They begged for Maladath and they got Maladath.
It’s going to crash anyway. It always does on AQ40. I am personally planning to do one clear of AQ40 and then mostly quit until Naxx.
I can just tell you. The phase will launch, people will play the game.
Maybe change the title to reflect that this is a OCE problem. I thougth: “Well, they’re going to open, same as every time - where’s the problem?” when I read it.
Problem with Maladath is that it was launched too late - normal Blizz - too little too late behaviour. And they will open the gates on Maladath eventually. They did on RP servers last time around.

When SoD was live… it got updates. It’s no longer being updated.

Easy to say this sitting on your ivory tower.
You are lucky enough to not have to decide to play on 200 ping.
OCE players have to either be on a low pop server, or play the game sub optimally, and in a less enjoyable way.
Easy to pretend we are simply stubborn, when you get to play exactly as you wish.
I am Australian. I didn’t need to think twice about the decision. I rolled on Nightslayer as I knew this would happen.
I am well aware of the difference between 20ms and 200. I also used to play on private servers where I was playing at around 340ms.
200ms is perfectly fine.
Just because it is fine for you, doesn’t mean it is fine for others. Most of us have played on 20ms for decades now, the game becomes far less enjoyable for me (and most I know) past 200ms.
Maybe you afk in raids, like to be disadvantaged in PvP or don’t care for doing any level of optimal gameplay. That’s ok, but I and many others enjoy most games when we can perform, and get a fair shot.
If you think it’s asking for special treatement then sure, however the War effort is outdated, its clearly been adjusted in SoD etc, regardless of the Population the set up shouldn’t require 1000s of hours of ‘farming’ level 20 mobs to get into a raid.
That has nothing to do with the server, it just so happens Maladath would benefit more from a better change for all.
You don’t need low ping for classic. If you think you do you are just bad.
People compete in Arena with 200 ping and get top 10.
My point should be obvious but if you want me to spell it out. It’s clear they had more investment and care when it came to SOD and it’s future, than they did with reviving Era and vanilla gameplay. How much they updated SOD now has nothing to do with that.
They can’t lower your ping bro.

Classic is easy, what a shocking revelation. You don’t need lower ping to raid, another shocking level of insight.
Maybe the 200 ping gives you an inbuilt excuse to play poorly. I would like an equal shot at playing my best. Go figure aye.
Then move to the US bud it’s all that will help.
They can’t flip a switch.
They aren’t going to host servers in OCE for 2k players.
