Why are “Green” level 47 elites in searing gorge killing my pet before I kill them?
im lvl 51, Broken tooth pet. Max armor and like rank 7 stam. Max claw/bite.
I farmed these in back in the day on my 49 hunter fairly easy. Right now I am doing the quest “The flames casting” basically a drop from them and my pet is getting rekt like its 5 levels behind…
All gear is up to date and even twinked a little.
I expected to drink a lot in here due to having to dps them down quickly but holy hell my pet is dying on one green mob elite.
Absolutely positive I remember how hunter played back then I still have videos. I no lifed wow pretty hardcore back then. This isn’t vanilla tho this is pretty close to before the TBC pre patch.
I know the answer to this. They are doing more than your pet’s total health in damage faster than you and your pet are doing their total health in damage.
This is one of those quirks. I agree with you.
It does seem like Blizzard went out of their way to make things matter again. While leveling I noticed it quite a bit, asking myself at least once a day, because things didn’t seem to be as difficult back then. An example?
Due to one of my noobish moments back in the day, I didn’t put on one piece of green gear until I was straightened out at around level 40.
I was under the impression that Binded items meant I would be stuck with them and I would not be able to replace them with better gear, you see. What would a level 60 player need with gear from level 12? I was going to wait until the really good stuff dropped at 60. Yeah, that’s pretty noobish.
Anyway, I remember being at least two levels below the apes outside of Booty Bay wearing nothing but white gear from vendors. One on one they would take me down to about 2% health left but I could beat them, back in the day. I am not remembering it incorrectly either. A few people stopped and watched me for a few, confused why I was wearing white gear at that level and impressed I didn’t die at the same time.
Would that be possible today? NO!!!
So you are not remembering incorrectly. Things are a little harder than it originally was.
Which mobs in particular? The ones that cast fire spells or the melee guys? I was able to do the melee guys when they were the same level as me with my bear pet (went down BM enough to get 1 point in imp mend and rest was MM). The casters were touch and go.
