You implied you could do it and that you don’t because you’re not interested.
Don’t change things up again atleast be consistent

That’s a good thing, the person I am quoting is sayding elitst don’t like like when they have more competition ie people getting better raitings due to having the use of ADDons.
Here’s the core issue—and I think it gets to the heart of what Ion is trying to address. But before I go further, let me be clear:
I do NOT trust Blizzard to get this right.
Ironically, the example I’m about to give is one Ion himself acknowledged as problematic.
Let’s talk about Stix Bunkjunker.
On Heroic difficulty, part of the mechanic involves bomb crabs hidden among trash piles. If someone hits one with a rolling trash ball, it causes significant raid-wide damage—often too much to recover from unless you’re already prepared for it. Visibility is key.
I raid with a casual guild—mostly real-life friends. Some are older players, some have vision challenges, some just aren’t tech-savvy. A few of us use addons like WeakAuras, DBM, or BigWigs. Most don’t.
There’s a WeakAura for this fight that puts a giant purple arrow over the bomb crabs, making them clearly visible in an otherwise chaotic and cluttered fight.
And here’s the frustrating part: the players who keep accidentally triggering the bomb crabs—despite multiple explanations—are the ones not using addons. They would benefit the most, but often don’t know how to install them or are uncomfortable messing with that kind of customization.
At the same time, even experienced players use that WeakAura. I’m confident I could do this fight on Mythic difficulty—and there are people in our group who do run Mythic content regularly. We still use the addon because it streamlines the fight, reduces friction, and lets us focus on higher-level execution.
This isn’t just about difficulty. It’s about clarity and accessibility.
If Ion wants to move away from addon dependence, I support the principle. But Blizzard has to demonstrate they can deliver encounters with visual and mechanical clarity baked in—not just for top-end players, but for everyone.
And let’s not ignore the accessibility side: for players with poor vision, slower reflexes, or cognitive limitations, addons like WeakAuras are more than just helpful—they make the game playable.
Until Blizzard can reliably build that clarity and accessibility into the core experience, I’ll keep my purple arrows, thanks.
I didn’t imply anything.
You said that I use WAs as an excuse for being a bad player and I said no, because I’m not interested in that content.
As I said I may or may not be able to do it if I tried.
Yea, removing incoming heals and seeing teammates cds is just tone deaf honestly.
These things don’t hurt the game being there
Accessibility is very difficult topic in discussion about addons.
I do support use of addons for accessibility. But enabling addons to be able to do that, also enables them to simplify the fights. That’s why I think they need to improve their default UI.
I get what you saying, but we can’t get there without them trying. To me personally Edit mode is great, I stopped using a bars management addon when they released it. I don’t use CD Manager yet, I’m waiting for them to improve it. We can’t know if their baked in functions will be good or not.
You did.
I said you sound like a bad player that uses weakauras as an excuse.
You didn’t.
At best you’d probably be in a 3/8 guild.
You did though. Saying something like “I don’t do it, but but not because I can’t” is absolutely inferring that you have the ability, full stop.
Having a stop sign on the crabs doesn’t fix the problem, though, people still mess it up.
The problem is that the trash balls turn like a bus with 4 flat tires.
To be fair, they did indicate they want to make sure their solutions are viable before they turn off access to these addons. The problem I have, though, is that I don’t trust them to be able to do it.
If they had allowed Cooldown Manager, for example, to cook–to get more player feedback on it, to run it through the gambit, to be reactive and communicative about it with the community, to work with members of the addon community to get it right, THEN released it and it turned out be brilliantly customizable and able to replace existing addons, the tone of these threads would be wildly different. People might actually trust that Blizzard can and will get the job done right.
But they didn’t. Cooldown Manager is insufficient in so many ways that I don’t know of anyone using it.
I’m personally against the use of combat addons
I am completely with you on blizzards might not be able to implement a workaround
but we can pray they do a ok job at it
And personally for me I don’t like the combat addons too much information going off for my personal use
A guild i’m part of in Cata classic I just couldn’t use the addons they were using too much information
And I do focus on the animation and voice lines of what’s going on in the game over the addon
“not because I can’t, but because I’m not interested in it.” doesn’t imply that I have the ability. It states that the reason why I’m not doing that content is my disinterest, not my ability.
I didn’t even give it a chance. Didn’t feel like wasting my time because I knew it would be trash.
As a raid tank, I currently have a list of which healer externals are available, so I can call for the one I need and know it’s available.
Why, exactly, are you “against” this information being available to me?
It 100% implies it.
See. I’m not the only one that’s calling out your nonsense.
lol ok. Multiple people disagree with you.
Im trying to use it now. It’s not good, but I’m quite optimistic about it’s development. I believe in the future it will become a great tool.
My rotation is howling blast today, howling blast tomorrow, howling blast forever.
Dude you’re in classic. There’s hardly any difficulty to classic.
This character is actually retail
I was using that as an example on why I don’t use combat addons
