If Handguards is considered endgame gear then so should the plague deck, not to mention you have no idea if it’s going to be used all through out the game’s life, ignoring MC, there are still 5+ raids to go.

Raid gear, in classic, wont be immediately replaced, because its raid gear.
I know, four phases into the mode you seem to still not grasp this, but ST was retooled into a raid. With how sparse upgrades are, the gear being immediately replaced shouldnt happen in a vanilla setting.
You can yawn, you can cry, you can even shout at your monitor, but nothing is going to change your little trinket, so you better enjoy the new stuff kiddo.

It’s called having critical thinking skills, you should give it a shot sometime instead of just getting mad when you’re unable to defend your position.
It is considered endgame where deck isnt specifically because of how vanilla is itemized and how dodge/parry work in vanilla and literally no other version of the game. It wouldnt be if there were many other alternatives that gave comparable weapon skill, or if weapon skill didnt mean as much as it did in early vanilla. Its also replaced once weapon skill didnt matter as much because thats literally all its value.
This is exactly why manual crowd pummeler and wolfshead helm were used in vanilla and classic for feral druids until endgame, because there was nothing else for them and they were itemized such that they needed the AS and the energy shift. We have alternatives for both in a head enchant and catnip/automatic crowd pummeler, and thus both items value went WAY down. Edgemasters would be the same.
Your trinket met neither of these. Its just a trinket, not even bis in the phase it came from that can be farmed by killing one add in dungeons x amount of times and dealing with rng card pulls.

Sunken Temple is a raid in sod and itemized as such. That is what the quote you mis-used is talking about. Completely separate from the trinket discussion that only exists because you brought it up.
