Yes, you absolutely can. A Nightfallen is just a Nightborne suffering from mana starvation, after all. Failure to get access to high quality mana results in further deterioration into Withered. Nightfallen is reversible; Withered…hasn’t been shown to be reversible.
With the Arcan’dor though, the Nightborne do have the cure for their mana addiction. Eating a piece of the fruit restores their health and prevents future withering, removing the addiction to the Nightwell. It would take some time for each Nightborne to eat a piece of the fruit, but it’s been a year or two at least since the Arcan’dor matured. Since the Nightwell was destroyed after the events of the Nighthold raid, it cannot be relied on for sustenance any longer so eating the fruit is almost mandatory.
It’s been a while since I’ve played through the quests so I can’t really offer further information than that, but it is something to keep in mind when writing the character.

To an extent, sure. There are two possibilities.
- Your character was never cured. This will be a lot harder, especially given the lack of new Nightwine.
- Your character was cured, but happened so late in the situation that they still have a rather withered look. This one is slightly more head-canon based. But arguably acceptable as some of the Nightborne faced have a sort of scarred look in the Nightfallen way.
Just choose an appropriate facial model. some of them look like they barely escaped tumbling to Withered status.
The important thing is not to let it become a gimmick which overshadows the character too much.
