Well…On the one hand, you have Tyrande and the NE’s openly despising them and then blatantly used them as meat shields to reduce the NE casualties during the battle of Suramar.
On the other, you have Lady Liadrin openly working with them, working to train them, and overall welcoming to them as they work to overcome their addiction.
You didnt save them yourself, the Horde and Alliance did. The armies you see gathered outside the Suramar gates for example illustrate this. You even see the general attitude there is towards the Nightborne from both sides as a player.
Yes YOU did the raid and such as an alliance player. No…that does not mean the Alliance solely conquered it. The story always refers to it as “Champions of the Alliance and Horde”. For mechanics reasons…they obviously cant make that shown in a raid scenario.
The same was true for the a Mechagnomes. I put in the work…but they suddenly went alliance. Why? Because the Alliance did the other half.
Proof misery loves company. Throughout this entire thread they even state they won’t stop whining and complaining. I’m usually not for the ignore feature as muting a thread works just as well, if not better, but in this case…it’d be nice.
Unfortunately this is true. I wish we could all choose who we could align ourselves with - I for one would love to detach from any association with Tyrande and her pathetic “Beloved”.
You are completely correct in that the overall effort was on both sides - however the character I was playing was the one who saved her in the wilderness (be it Horde or Alliance). If I hadn’t she would have died.
And the same is true to Mechagnomes - I understand both from a game play perspective but they really needed to improve the story telling a bit. Though to be honest, I am more than a little tired of being the “champion” of either side.
Don’t forget that the Nightborne are literally close family members with the Night Elves. They are only distant relatives with the Blood Elves, however.
They’re actually about the same distance relatively but even if they were identical they’d still have about as much in common with the kaldorei as Worgen have with Gnolls.
Yes the NB prefered the Horde because Tyrande was an donkey to them.
But there’s more at play here, remember that Thalyssra knew that Tyrande is the leader of the Night Elves and Tyrande said to them that the only reason they were helping was to see the Legion banished from the world and to destroy the Nightwell.
So tell me honestly, you, as a leader of your people why would you join them? The leader of a faction and basically, to Thalyssra, a representative of the Alliance being a complete donkey to you, you would start imagining how your people is going to be treated. Basically Tyrande was the Garithos of their story.
BUT not everything is black and white here, 10, 000 years may have passed but Tyrande remembers that Thalyssra decided not to help them to defeat the Legion and Azshara in the war of the ancients. Basically that faction of Highborne gave their back to their kin and left them to their luck while they protected themselves in a bubble no matter the outcome.
if you’re now exposed to the world and in a vulnerable position and need allies, you’re going to pick allies that are more culturally similar to yourselves.
the blood elves are a very similar society, though shaped by more hardship. it was always the right choice for them.
Most people are basing on physical appearance only, arguing they’re a brand of Night Elves. When in truth Nightborne are closer to Blood Elves, as both were Highborne, a separate caste of former Night Elves.
Nightborne are the Highborn, the nobles, mutated by 10,000 years of exposure to the Nightwell. Night Elves are the Lowborn, the peasants, who banned Arcane magic and took up Druidism for 10,000 years. Blood Elves are descendants of Highborn who were exiled after the Sundering 'cuz they kept practicing Arcane magic.
So, no. Nightborne are closer to the Blood Elves than the Night Elves as they are both from the upper caste of ancient Kal’dorei society.
As if a Highborn noble would rub elbows with the Lowborn peasants. It’s like sayin’ a nobleman should side with the house maid instead of his nephew.
