Night elves and immortality

Night elves were originally granted immortality specifically to act as guardians of Nordrassil, as it was planted over the top of the new well of eternity created by Illidan. The blessing was on the tree, not the night elves. It was an important job over and important place. Whereas Teldrassil was just planted by Fandrel, and he just expected to have their immortality reinstated. Sure it served as the night elves’ main home for a short while, but it wasn’t created for the same purpose. It was just a very big tree.

It certainly seems as though the new tree will be more akin to Nordrassil with its portal to the emerald dream. A link to the dream was another blessing that Nordrassil had. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they did choose to make the night elves immortal again.

All aspects are required to grant them immortality and currently none of them have the ability to even make themselves immortal so…

Why do we keep pretending that the Kaldorei are entitled to immortality for some reason

So much for your “sacred cycle of life and death” LMAO

I don’t think they are, but I totally understand their point. I mean, if you used to be immortal, wouldn’t you want it back, too?

Only Nozdormu’s blessing was required for immortality. And I want to bet my socks that Nozdormu’s alter ego is the whole reason we are out here now working to get him all of his powers back too. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

I just feel bad for the night elves man. Their whole culture and way of life was greatly influenced by their immortality. I wonder if it’s how they thrived in the first place as much as they did being that they don’t really reproduce very much. And then they just about got wiped out by slyvanas.

that was Teldrassil right?

Night elves should be forced into camp blackthorn with the old orcs because they are so weak they let their tree get burned down. And should have to rub the forsakens feet for letting Arthas turn Sylvanus into a scourge.

If they get immortality, it would fit to give them paladins :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Teldrassil is the second tree that Staghelm grew. Nordrassil was the first one.

Didn’t Vordrassil (that failed World Tree up in Northrend) come in between Nordrassil and Teldrassil?

I just want a new tree city that will look stunning because the art is always on point and then for blizzard to just kind of forget that night elves exist until they get some writers that actually like night elves.

Yep. Andrassil was an attempt to stop the saronite, along with some others they planted, as well, known as the Great Trees. They were grown from branches of Nordrassil. It wasn’t supposed to be a new home for them, though. They were merely meant to stop the saronite spread. Which they did… but the roots of Andrassil went too deep and touched Yogg’s prison, thereby corrupting the tree and everything in the vicinity. It was destroyed and renamed Vordrassil.

No the racist, bigot elves who committed Genocide against the trolls should not get immortality.

There was a certain shift between WC3 and WoW in writting.

Nelves had a concept of living in balance with nature, coming close to live near the World Tree and becoming immortal in the process as they merged in the cycle.

Things seem to have changed in WoW because almost everything was taken away. From chimaeras, dryads, druids, ancients, mountain giants, etc. What was Nelven became part of a neutral plot that includes factions that never cared much for nature. You’re able to see a clear attempt at shifting their concept of “living in balance with nature” to “they’re just arrogant elves”.

It’s like Blizzard was trying to make Highborne out of them when the entire point of their culture is to recognize what caused the Sundering.

No. In fact their lifespan should be shortened.

The way things are going with night elves, they shouldn’t really be worried about dying of old age. :fire:

Night elves ought to be more responsible with the lives they’ve got before asking for more.
