Uh… there’s three Goblin-based units in WC 2.
Zeppelin, sappers, and sea turtle.
EDIT: and the building, Goblin Laboratory. It was my favorite building on winter maps, because it had a little snowman. (Or did I have that mixed up with the Orcish Blacksmith? Hmm.)
I’m not taking sides, I’m only pointing out that with the Goblins’ introduction in WC 2, they started out as Horde.
I was actually shocked when they were neutral in WC 3 and early WoW! Because I grew up on WC 2…

Fair point, I’ll concede.
Still i’m hoping to actually see the undermine and not in a dungeon context.
points to Mechagon
Think you are out of luck. Save the Undermine for another expansion on the islands where it makes sense we return to Kezan.
what if we go in the dark heart itself since if khadgar survived other dalaran people are in there
the war within

So would that extend to a “filthy” alliance goblin like Renzik “The Shiv”?

Undermine.
Under.
Underground.
This expansion is underground.
Plenty sense to return to Kezan.
Personally I didn’t like Mechagon or Timeless isle style content, I kinda prefer a more structured content but lets see what Blizzard does.

No, there are Goblins, but there are also Goblins that are not affiliated with the horde at all. We’ve even had Goblins that are a part of other groups that are actively hostile against the horde and Goblins in it, the Blackfuse Company.
It’s a big distinction. Races are not monoliths.

I have a nagging suspicion they might use undermine as a mega dungeon with the Venture Company and Gallywix as an end boss.

The Undermine would likely work best as a suramar style megacity zone but I kinda have my doubts about how big its gonna be as a mid-expansion zone likely not all that central to the expansion plot.

If it is a zone, I just hope it is not another Nazjatar. Where the actual city is like only a tiny fraction of the whole zone.

I don’t think anyone can be sure atm, but my bet is that it will be this expac’s version of Zaralek. I suspect it will be a zone that contains a dungeon and/or raid. From in game hints as well as datamining it seems like the Undermine is likely going to be the focus of a major patch. So, it is likely it will be a fairly large thing.

This would be epic. I always welcome Goblin lore because they just bring such a fun dynamic to the Warcraft universe.

That’s because the doomposters are too busy crying about muh horde rep - I’m actually kinda interested to see how they tie The Goblin Way and Gazlowe’s presence in the underground with Undermine.

It would prevent the trouble of goblins becoming future enemy fodder if we get a conclusion to that race.
I might be hopefully optimistic (or stupid) but I quite enjoyed Gazlowe’s involvement in Azj-Kahet so far and I’d love to see Undermine as a sort of ‘Zaralek Caverns’ addition to TWW. Goblins are one of my favorite races for how incredibly unserious they are, so it’d bring some humor and lightheartedness to the otherwise gloomy/moody TWW expansion so far.
That being said though, I don’t know that I’ll be surprised if it just gets shoved into a Megadungeon but I definitely will be sad if that happens.

I’m really interested in seeing the Goblins move away from an ultra capitalist society and become actual likeable people.
Their storyline is going to follow right in line with the Ferengi from Star Trek. They will change their ways to become a more socialist society than a capitalist one. It’s the only natural story progression they have, otherwise, they’re forever a comic relief race with no substance to them. The ability to grow past their greed and lack of compassion is what will make them interesting.
I’d like to see the Undermine, but I think it will be the Mega Dungeon of the expansion while the Harronir zone will be the first major patch zone.
We should know more next week with the epilogue quests to Nerub’ar palace. It will hint as to whats next for TWW besides the anniversary event for 11.0.5.

Weird thing there is what even is the plot now? I am not sure we will even see Xal’atath for awhile and once the Nerubians are finished out in the raid there is no real obvious thread to continue right now.
So much this. Goblins are such a caricature, I can’t take them even remotely seriously. They just aren’t as fun as the Ferengi are to me. So Goblins moving forward out of out of their minds crazy capitalist promises to be interesting.
Next zone is probably going to be some root-zone full of discount Na’vi and black-blood monsters.
Undermine would be preferable, especially if they break out that car from the goblin starter zone.
