[NEWS] Shadowlands Preview: Torghast, Tower of the Damned

Plus all these things are subject to change. It’s been a week or so of alpha. Blizzard greatly increased the rate at which we amassed coalescing visions soon after that content was released, because the original rates & costs were almost punitive for player time.

Hopefully this time around they make the changes beforehand.

Yeah, but it does have those limits. It’s not “ram your head against it to squeeze out one more reward.”

If Torghast had unlimited rewards or of it was unlimited deaths then a limit on the number of entries would make sense.

Again, everyone remembers the beginning of Legion. They are also able to see the difference between something that gave unlimited rewards like Maw AP runs and something that does not.

I’m not going to respond to your entire massive blocks of text but please don’t suggest anything to Blizzard. Your ideas are worse.

Can you run Torghast if you don’t plan on selecting a Covenant? My Sylvanas Loyalist character refuses to play any storyline that requires going against Sylvanas interests.

Seems like the Torghast abilities are temporary, so they won’t affect what you do outside the Tower. Although it’s a strong bet that the content will be balanced around Covenant abilities / soulbinds, so not choosing a Covenant and not getting their perks will probably make things more difficult for you.

They clearly want Torghast to be a part of character progression so they have to limit or it becomes another run this all day or you are now behind scenario. Limit specific rewards weekly and add unlimited extra goodies like crafting mats/gold/cosmetics etc.

potd from FFXIV gets away with unlimited entry because it is completely useless progression wise outside leveling alt classes. The rewards are almost entirely rubbish with the rare items having a very very small chance of being looted from a bag.

If they want to give us free (or almost) entry but limit legendary rewards that is fine with me.

Ha, Sylvanas Loyalist…

Sure, you can even run it without a weapon equipped if your character happens to be a conscientious objector. You just probably won’t get as far as others who, you know, don’t object to the brutal slaying of all those turtles that didn’t make it to the water and decided to throw their lot in with the jailer

This sounds pretty cool

like a non combat rogue that stuns his enemies with a constant barrage of comments on how violence never solves anything?

No timer is great, i had assumed once you died it was game over, start it over and try again.
Adding a key to run the instance (if its anything like Visions) means my alts will rarely get to run it. I have one alt that will probably sit at cape level 6 and another at level nothing. I just dont have time to do chores on multiple toons.
Now if you pick up this currency while just doing the things you enjoy in game, whether it be 5mans, BGs, or even farming herbs, then fine, so be it. But this daily chores bs to run Solo Content is stupid.
Some people spam mythics all day long. Why should it be any different.

If its about loot, then limit loot. If you make it to level 10 and get a reward then the next run you have to make past that or you get nothing. or some kinda limit.
Anything but friggen dailys for currency to run solo content.

I’m still looking forward to this a great deal.

That’s some pretty strong assumptions about how to obtain keys. For all you know the first 1, 2, 5, 10, or 15 keys might be received from the daily ‘emissary style’ thing (whatever the new one is now called) and then you get progressively less for doing content down to a minimum amount. We have no idea, so you may only need to spend 30 mins on an alt to get a nominal amount of keys to run for the week, we’ll have to see how you obtain them.

That’s the purpose of the forums - to share thoughts and ideas.

In this case - the sooner we can share them, the sooner changes can be made to address them.

It is too soon to know exactly how things will work - but we can certainly voice our distaste for how things operate now in hopes that they’ll avoid those kinds of systems in Shadowlands.

I’m viewing it from a anarchist take. I want to see all the Covenants crash and burn.

Pretty much I Kinda see why timer is needed… Like I can still thinks ome one Can pull “He have no life” and be like room 999,999 and be like “Is it Tuesday all ready?”

But well I Just ok if the trash become crazy I mean crazy…

If it wasn’t for regents to make legendary items I think I wouldn’t even bother. Was hoping for Mage Tower transmogs but I don’t see anything like that for Torghast.

And the thing about legendary items that has got me excited is this “You are in full control—you can choose which type of equipment you’ll make and what powers will go in them to make them truly your own.” No more getting an AZ like trait that I find useless or don’t use. Now I get to pick which powers to add to my gear.

:+1: Player chosen powers for gear.

Very much do like how it looks right now, It reminds me a bit of FFXIV’s Deep Dungeons (Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High) which is a very good thing.

Also very glad that its death based instead of timed for more exploring and not feeling rushed (Thats what I think was the greatest flaw of Island Expeditions). My only concern is Tarragrue and how it will be implemented. I am hoping he will only spawn when there are X amount of deaths and not on a timer. Also wondering if he still continues onto the next level or not.

My feeling it should give you about 5-10 death… But I sure it won’t be like take 20 death to to summon the big guy.

Watching a few streamers go through it right now. It appears dying around 4-5 times repeatedly over a short time summons the Tarrarugue
