[News] Shadowlands Class Updates

Maelstrom really wasn’t the issue, it was that Blizzard never really tuned Enhancement to deal the levels of damage it needed. It’s also still heavily dependent on RNG proc’s from WF and Overcharge to really shine. This can lead to long periods of mediocre dps.

I’m curious why enhancement needs stormbringer, especially if we are using maelstrom weapon again… our stacks will make lightning bolt instant. Will stormbringer lightning bolts also have the bonus damage maelstrom weapon had?

I agree that we should have 2h option… it’s pretty disheartening that many other classes are given it but Shaman’s aren’t (Survival hunters, too for that matter.)

Old Starfall effectively summoned an NPC that picked random targets within 40 yards. If they improved the logic of Starfall, it could totally work… but I’m inclined to agree with you… old Starfall was bugged to hell and back, and there’s not enough Glyph slots to make it better.

Lol in the original post, you said you guys thought you went too far on the unpruning. I was expecting rune types and presences, shadow orbs, etc etc… are you out of touch with what going to far means? Yea frost has 2h back and unholy has a new interaction with the mage and death coil. That isn’t complicated.

Games are being made for people with double digit sub-110 IQs… and the devs know this. Are the shareholders saying no on presences?

i’m pretty much decided on going feral for the next expansion. i would’ve liked to do boomkin but it seems like “lets ruin it” is where their minds are at with it.

I really like the changes you are making to Death knights and shamans.

We saved Balance in BFA, we can do it again with Shadowlands. :tada:

Warlocks got changes? Demo and Destro didn’t get anything useful. That’s 2/3rd’s of the class…

Indeed. Personally I’m disappointed that it looks like Ret will continue to be the high RNG spec it has been since Legion.
No baseline Inquisition, Empyrean Power being added as a talent.

I’m still not sure how a holy avenger is typified by layers upon layers of RNG.

Personally I would have loved to see them modernise Seals, make Inquisiton baseline, bring back our base utility in blessing for all specs.
Like everyone got stuff like Mystic Touch and Battle Shout etc in BfA and Paladins who were known for their buffs and utility were left only a couple of our very niche tools.

Also like you mentioned Long Arm of the Law and Pursuit were great feel good passives, even a nerfed LAotL would be nice, because admittedly 45% is high on a lower cd Judgement, but like 30% or even 20-25% would feel like a god send

Playerbase: MWGA! Make WoW Great Again!

Ion and the dev team: Make WoW Generic Again? Done! We’re listening!

i’ve decided to main my kt druid regardless. i sent him all my alliance gold. i’m hoping that at least 2 specs are good enough for putzing around the world and maybe some pvp/lfr/etc. i’d like to play balance though.

Soul shards bro. Read it again

Yeah, literally just curses, which is nice, but no baseline circle or coil, no ritual of doom for funsies etc.

I too wasn’t sure where they were going with this as honestly when I started reading I thought they were going to say Bloodtalons is baseline but then came out with this reworked thing?

Seems like it just drops complexity from Feral Druids which is sad because they were the only spec really that was left with that added complexity. I personally would have liked to see original Bloodtalons as baseline and then this either as an option talent that changes bloodtalon or interacted with it (kinda like a double buffing for snapshots for advanced Ferals)

Unstable Affliction sacrifices its stacking effect to torture its victim longer, and all without consuming a Soul Shard. Affliction Warlocks can exacerbate the malaise they sow with Malefic Rapture , a new ability that deals damage to all enemies afflicted by their periodic spells (increased for each periodic effect on the target).

New Talents will be available for Affliction Warlocks to more effectively drain away the life from their victims. Sow the Seeds will now embed two additional seeds into nearby enemies which—combined with the new Malefic Rupture ability—can make for explosive results.

Fire and Brimstone is getting an upgrade in Shadowlands, as it now generates 2 Soul Shard Fragments for each additional enemy struck by the Warlock’s empowered Incinerate.

Doesn’t account for the fact that mobs are dead before you get the cast off. That’s where Affliction AOE suffers

If mobs are dying that fast, you need to do harder content.

I really hope there is more coming for Demo and Destro. Affliction changes look good and I’ll probably play it finally, but the other specs could use some attention.

Demo’s ramp up and several cooldowns make it hard to switch targets ,and outside of ST raid bosses it feels like you never get to shine.

Destro could use some unpruning- Shadowburn and Fire and Brimstone baseline.

All Warlocks need a baseline interrupt, or at least make Grimoire of Sacrifice worth taking.

i’ll just be happy we’re not getting meta back honestly. demo is fun right now. i’m glad it seemingly won’t be ruined in SL.

That would be much easier for me (and I suspect others) if WoW let me assign a keybind to, say, a cluster of skills, with a followup key to decide which one. (so Q, E is one thing, Q, Q is another, etc.)

we really don’t need to give people more reasons to QQ though. :stuck_out_tongue:

All specs already use soul shards though? Unless you mean afflic not costing one with UA and Destro generating more?

Don’t get me wrong Affliction is apparently going to be getting some need changes, especially for AoE which will be great, and increased generation on Fire and Brimstone might make it a contender for more sustained AoE.

But as far as like utility and unique things coming back we don’t get much. We still have to choose between iconic abilities like circle and mortal coil, we still don’t get howl of terror, fun things like ritual of doom are still missing, only destro gets infernal.

Those are all key warlock things that players have had upto Legion but still aren’t being made available.

Compared to what is making return on many other classes Warlocks got pretty shafted (outside of afflic who atleast will look at getting rotational fixes)
