Hello, I’m wondering why sometimes if I use stormstrike or crash lightning it will auto cast a 10 stack lightning bolt but sometimes it won’t and I manually have to hit the button to cast lightning bolt? I’m confused by how that works. This is outside of Ascendance btw. Thanks in advance.
Only one thing I can really think of.
You have Ascendance talented, which includes an RNG proc Doom Winds on top of the actual use of Ascendance (which also pops Doom Winds). When Doom Winds procs, it will auto cast lightning bolt/Chain lightning when using Crash Lightning and Stormstrike via Thorims Invocation which I am assuming you have talented. You may just be missing the fact Doom Winds is proccing. Doom Winds will only proc when Ascendance is not up, meaning if it is on cooldown or ready to be used but has not been activated yet.

Ah ok that makes sense, thanks so much. I’ll keep an eye open for the doom winds proc. Half the time I don’t even notice when it’s up because it’s not a very eye catching spell. Cheers.

Yeah, its the Thorim’s talent causing Doom Winds to do that. It doesn’t matter if you’re specced for Ascendance and getting random Doom Winds procs or if you’re manually casting Doom Winds on its own without Ascendance.
