Hey guys, im new to the game. 3 weeks ago i boosted a rogue and it was a bad decision. I was overwhelmed with the amount of abilities.
I decided to start over. Did some research and decided to master warlock class.
My question is…
Which spec is good for what?
Leveling? PvP? Dungeons?
I just got an option to switch between them, thats why im curious.

All of the specs pretty much work for all environments if you’re not reaching for the maximum possible; just some specs do better for certain scenarios, but all warlock specs are somewhat viable to some extent. If you want to look at what specs are doing best at what,
For dungeons, Demonology
For pvp, Destruction
For raids, Affliction
With it all said, like I mentioned, you should pretty much try the three and see which one you like the rotation the most. I use Destruction for everything, for instance, and I’m fairly happy and successful.
Some people have a lot more fun with Demonology. The few times I tried I disliked, but it’s very personal - on my previous guild, one of the other warlocks raiding with us was Demonology and he was doing great on the parses.
Affliction might be the most complex of the three - and, to be honest, I only had fun with Affliction when I used the setup with the most buttons and active skills to use. Again, all specs are viable for everything: if you’re not talking about pushing the highest keys, Affliction will work just fine for 12s for example.
I have had a blast with Destro, I have played a lot with demon and no affliction. but in the dungeons I have done, I have had a blast keeping everything up and just the rotation, I would not worry about if your not gonna be awesome at everything in a single spec.
Like Dreygur said I would try everything out and see what clicks with you. Remember this is a Game, Have fun with it!!!
it’s tough to get the full flavor of any of them at a low level but switch around as you level and try all three. You have a personal tank so any spec will be fine leveling. I’ve been finishing up my lock to 120 from 110-115 I did destro, I always like destro, it’s pretty easy. I’m doing demo to 120 now and I like it, it’s a bit more complex I think but the damage seems better. I try to like affliction, but never really do in the long run.
I highly reccomend destro till you get to current content. For gearing and future endgame m+ I reccomend demo. For raid I reccomend destro. If you find demos upkeep overwhelming go back to destro. Afflictions ramp up is time comsuming and requires a lot of upkeep as well
For raids it’s mostly Destro. Affliction is better on Uu’nat, Mekka, Rasta, and maybe Jaina for pure p3 damage.
if you’re brand new to the game as well, take a look at all 3 specs, see which theme attracts you the most and start off with that then adventure out into the other specs and give em a shot. when you get to endgame and min-maxing then there’s another discussion to be had
Destruction is by far the most fun. Especially after you get the fire and brimstone talent at level 60.
Try them all! Good choice picking warlock too!
You can play all 3 specs in all the content so play what you like the most.
Destruction has huge spells that do big damage but you have to stand still to cast all the time. It’s probably the most straight forward spec to play.
Affliction uses damage over time spells (DoT) and you cast most them while running around and you can put your dots on different enemies at the same time.
Demonology summons lots of demons and has a special permanent demon called the felguard. Your demons do most of the damage leaving you free to run around and loot.
I like warlock it’s really easy with the blueberry
