I haven’t played since 2012. So this is a new account and I’m a new player really.
I want to to tank or learn and try to tank but don’t know which one to play or anything?
I do know I’m not interested in Druid.

I mean. You just gotta feel around to find the tank that’s right for you
For me I like vengeance demon hunter because it encourages you to play extremely aggressively to get maximum defensive value. But it’s also a leech tank and heavily punished u if your not putting things in cooldown
Granted all tanks punish you if your not putting all your things on cd or cycling your cds
I don’t see a clear request here; you just put a question mark at the end of a statement.
My best advice: go to YouTube, and search for
First, general overviews: search for “midnight tank specs” and watch videos comparing them
Second, zoom in on the ones that you think look interesting. Search for “midnight vengeance demon hunter” or “midnight protection paladin”.
Third, level a couple of them to level 40-50. It doesn’t take long at all now, and it’s really the only way to find out if you enjoy that play style. You don’t even have to tank dungeons; you can just quest with them as you build muscle memory.
The new content includes something called “follower dungeons”, basically NPC’s instead of other player-controlled characters. You can run those with your choice of class, and you’ll get a feel for which class suits you best to tank with, while not having to deal with Tirion yelling at you, “Why aren’t you taunting!?”
I used it when I was prepping to queue as healer, and we only wiped once (got distracted and the tank just pulled…) I haven’t tanked in a long time (4 years or so), but I prefer Prot Pally when I do (I deliberately didn’t mention Guardian/Bear)..
Good luck, and welcome back to the best game in the World of Warcraft (way better than minesweeper at the Darkmoon Faire!!)
If you’ve played before, you should be a little famliar with the 3 triple-spec classes: Paladin, Monk and the already declined Druid. They all give you flexibility, and allow for self-healing in case you have a weak or inattentive healer, and they can also switch to a more damage approach if the DPS isn’t getting the job done. Of course, you want to focus on Tanking, but those three hybrids give you more options than a Warrior or DK might have.
These dungeons also have a feature where, even as the tank, the NPC’s will ‘lead’ you (hence the “follower” name") through the dungeon, since the content is new to you. You can also go as DPS before you try tanking, just to get a feel for the fights.
Warrior is a good starting place, since it was one of the original classes and has a proven record of hardcore tanking.
Besides the follower dungeons, you can also go to the temple of the white tiger in Pandaria (Kun-Lai Summit), and do the class trials at the Proving Grounds. These get progressively harder, with a Title reward if you complete all the waves, but it’s a bit of hoop-jumping fest to be able access them, or at least it was before. You may be able to just fly up there (assuming you get to 20 and unlock access to Pandaria).
I just returned after a long break. Got my warrior up and running and am enjoying his tank build. That said I wanted to ask about which stats matter most beyond stamina and strength? I saw some one said haste? Can anyone shed some light?

It says
Ilevel > Haste > Vers = Crit > Mast
That will doubtless change with more advanced levels of play and gear with different builds, but should work well for now.
