I’m doing alchemy with my monk and I’ve never tried this profession before. So what is portions are most wanted? Are all the flasks useful or just the ones in shadowlands?

My first question would be; would mythic dpsers want it? If so, yes it will sell like hot cakes. Those guys will do anything for more dps.
I have no idea if old world consumables is an active market.
For any serious potions/flasks, useful ones are Shadowland recipes.
For niche / toyful pots, it’s similar to Engineering where there’s a few recipes from past expansions that still work at cap level.
For example, there’s a alchemy recipe that gives you “shadowmeld” for 3 mins, makes it so if you stand still you camouflage in place. Really fun defending nodes in battlegrounds if you wanna suprise someone lol. Potion of concealment I think.
If you’re gonna look into old non-shadowlands recipes just to find some fun stuff to play with just be wary of the “this potion/elixer is ineffective on players past level 49/50” tooltip. It’ll say it under the items description.

no one uses that potion is actual battlegrounds, the pvp combat pots are way better. you can’t even move while using the potion so once you actually have to engage to defend the pot is entirely useless.
@ OP, there’s no particular nuance to WoW professions. They are as boring as it gets and no one cares about anything but current recipes. Look at undermine journal and see which of the DPS pots sell the best on your server and make those. It’s usually agility

At this point you are probably late in the season to make any real money off Alchemy. It is at the start of a season that are your big pay days, in the dog days of a season there will be less demand and more flasks/pots out there.
my guy me and my friends use it all the time, not everyone is a tryhard metagamer, some of us play this video game to have fun and laugh.
There’s nothing funnier than camouflaged pumping DK deathgripping a little warrior at mines and watching the warrior flail in cofusion.
Live a little buddy, there’s creative ways to screw with people just gotta think out of the box
keep in mind when I mentioned that pot I labeled it as a “fun/toy” item, what are you even on about

I told OP in my first sentence that any serious potions/flasks will be from Shadowlands recipes & then I followed up saying he can look at old world recipes for “fun items/toys.” Nowhere did I tell OP to grind out old world recipes for a profit.
I appreciate your passion for the game but you need learn to actually read and comprehend a post before dropping off a condemning reply, less you risk looking like you’re foaming at the mouth.

You know, I will make an exception for those Doritos locos tacos things from Taco Bell. Crunchy they may be, but my God are they tasty, especially the spicy ones.

Power flasks and utility potions and weapon oil would work out well both for selling and yourself imho.
