It’s not a reboot of the series, but is a continuation with a new cast so everything that happened in SG1, Atlantis, and Universe is relevant and included. It won’t be Atlantis related for closure, that jump shot across galaxies to blow up one ship is all we’re gonna get. They’re having trouble of what platform it will be on, they thought Netflix, but now its undecided with the way Netflix just cancels high rated shows after 2-3 seasons.
Yeah, but except for SG1:
Those sci-fi shows only tend to last a couple of seasons anyway.
I also was looking forward to seeing where Atlantis, as well as Universe, went.
Unrelated, but also RIP “Dark Matter.” It seems that if I like a sci-fi show, it is doomed!
I wasn’t a fan of Universe, it felt too much like they were trying to copy the tone of BSG, but I love sg1 and atlantis and hope the new one is more like those two. They felt more…fun? I don’t know how else to word it.
It seems like a safe bet that they will run on Syfy again but who knows. I don’t want the same characters except for maybe guest spots or something, but would be nice to continue in the same general story with new people, following up on older story lines like the Jaffa group, what their civilization looks like years later and all that. Seeing Earth some years later with the Asgard tech and what they have done with it would be interesting also.
Hell yeah. Thanks for the news, I’m looking forward to this. Loved SGU & Atlantis
Huge SG fan. Loved the movie, SG1, Atlantis.. and even kind liked SGU. I mean
I appreciated what they were trying to do anyway.
Coming from Amazon is kind concerning, but they did give us Terminal List, Reacher, Grand Tour… but also Wheel of Time and Rings of Power… so gunna tamper my expectations. Still, gunna keep an eye out.
I would be too, but I’m slightly optimistic since they got the original producers from SG1 and Atlantis, and they are contacting the original cast, Michael Shanks did an interview recently.
Well that gives me a little hope. I have been burned so much by remakes and reboots and sequels and prequels and midquels… I just can’t get hyped like I use to.
…what does it mean that I absolutely immediately recognized the episode of SG1 they were using?
I gotta re watch SG1 now.
Well good news, they’re all on Amazon Prime including Origins and the Cartoon!
Well I know what I am binging during the holidays besides eggnog… food… alcohol… recreational supplements…
…not always in that order.
Now depending how much of a fanatic you are, there is an alternate watch order that keeps the timeline together around when Atlantis starts showing up.

And it’s gone.
I am fine with this, just like I am fine with the Buffy reboot getting
canned, and hopefully the Xfiles following too.
These current studios are crap and they turn out more crap. So I would rather they just not move forward and avoid violating another franchise I am a fan of.
Except this one was being done by the original 4 producers of the series, the reported reason for cancelling it is it was too focused on the existing fanbase not suitable for a broader, new audience.
Ah, well that just furthers my point about the studios being crap. Oh well. Still not going to lose any sleep over this. I would rather just rewatch the classics.
