I’ll give you the bullet points because I’ve already broken these interactions down several times.
-“out of control” AP only happens with twin Rock Biter.
-MSW stacking rapidly only works with Main Hand Windfury. (Not compatible with twin rockbiter)
-Windfury doesn’t add to AP Pool.
So it’s either Crazy AP and threat no tank could hold (even with the new LB version) and few MSW procs to use the 30% SP. OR
Crazy MSW with average/good AP and the Shaman Copy/Paste of Paladin Sheath of Light
except shamans were already top dps by a healthy margin so why give them a better version fo the already underperforming ret paladin, wouldve at least been nice if they buffed sheath up to parity with this
Dual Rockbiter at 50 means Rockbiter 6’s 522 AP x2. So there is 1044 AP from JUST Rockbiter, aka 313 SP. Shamans currently in level 40 raid buffs have another ~783 AP from buffs and gear. So now we’re at 1827 AP, aka instant 548 SP. Now, looking at itemization for level 50 raid gear we’re seeing on the official preview sample items as well as the datamined recipes and drops we’re seeing around a 50% uplift in stats. a 50% uplift in AP gains over level 40 raid gears lands Shaman probably around 580 AP from gear and about another 460 from buffs.
So that lands us 1044 from Rockbiter, ~580 from Gear and ~460 from buffs. So a grand total of 2084, also meaning 625 SP from this rune alone at level 50, as a melee hybrid class. These numbers could also be a bit low, as it seems the crafted items will average an uplift considerably more than 50%. So that could be easily rounded off around 650 SP.
For comparison the full end of Classic best possible Naxxramas BiS Mage gear has 665 SP unbuffed.
And Double Rockbiter adds 2 extra chunks of threat on each attack.
Even just now at level 40, Double Rockbiter is about 400 TPS with just auto attacks. No Stormstrike, no Lava Lash, no MSW Procs spells. Just Auto attacks- about 250 DPS, and 400 TPS.
Nobody is running Double Rockbiter in PvE. (And soon won’t be in PvP either) because it doesn’t matter if you can do 100,000 DPS if the tank can only generate 800 TPS.
its literally the sheath of light rune but for shamans and given that theoretically paladins can reach around 20-30% spellcrit in phase 3 I’m not entirely phased by this.
Sheath of light is derived from the mental quickness talent which was originally a shaman talent in TBC. Paladins are the ones with the offbrand version.
