Scaling haste as a capstone talent is weak and boring.
Raw stats as a talent is boring. Most talents and especially the revised talent trees of most other classes have moved away from raw stats and opt for more interesting interactions that feed into a general build for the players to go into.
As I said before, I’ve mentioned it numerous times and don’t feel like I should constantly copy and paste all over the place.
But my idea for Y’Sharrj is as I said, more gameplay changing.
Here is one version of my idea…
- Idol of Y’Shaarj (Redesign to be more interactive and game changing)
The fractured Mind of Y’Shaarj coalesces into the essences of 7 Prime Sha
Summoning Mindbender unlocks the powers of all the prime Sha and empowering your Mind Spells, granting each an additional effect while Mindbender is active.- Echo of Anger: Mind Flay is castable while moving.
- Echo of Hatred: Mind Blast gains an additional charge.
- Echo of Violence: Mind Spike cast time is reduced by 50%.
- Echo of Despair: Mind Sear spawns a Shadowy Apparition each time a target is damaged from Mind Sear, Max targets (5).
- Echo of Fear: Mindbender attacks 20% faster and applies a stack of Shadow Vulnerability stacking up to 10 times, lasts 15 seconds.
- Shadow Vulnerability causes the target to take an additional 1% damage from your shadow spells. Upon reaching 10 stacks, your [non-boss] target becomes Horrified for 3 sec.
- Echo of Doubt: Mindgames duration is refreshed each time the target takes damage from your Mind spells.
- Echo of Pride: Mind Control [Dominate Mind] becomes instant cast.
That would be 1 Example of a powerful Idol capstone talent.
We can also make Yogg-Saron focused more with Shadowy Apparitions synergy.
- Idol of Yogg-Saron (Redesign to be more accessible and lean more into Shadowy Apparition talent synergies)
Your Shadow Word: Death spawns a Shadowy Apparition for each target afflicted with Shadow Word: Pain. Shadowy Apparitions deal 20% of its damage to nearby targets. Max (5).
Then N’Zoth can have interaction regarding DoTs. Be it dot protection with a nasty additional dot like Unstable Affliction or your Shadow Word: Death or Mind Spells can cause the Crushing Blow type effect each time they deal damage with each DoT granting increased chance for that to happen. Or some other DoT type synergy.
Then C’Thun can have more synergy to all Channeling Spells. One example being the Mind Flays from the tentacles can slow targets like the players Mind Flay and also Mind Sear can Spawn Shadowy Apparitions during your Summoned Mind Bender like you can if you have Y’Sharrj and also take advantage of Void Ray in that the tentacles Mind Flay deals additional damage to targets afflicted with your DoT spells and if you have N’Zoth, they can have a chance to crushing blow the target.
So in essence…
Y’Sharrj = Empowered Mind spells only while your summoned Mind Bender is active. So you get a temporary Empowerment window with all Mind Spells having additional functionality and it is up to the player to use what they think is best within that limited window uptime.
N’Zoth = Damage over Time spells synergy that is always active that allows you to chunk the HP of high health targets but it’s based on a % chance.
Yogg-Saron = Shadowy Apparitions that now deal AOE damage which is useful to take out targets that are not dotted up like a thousand low health targets and adds additional methods to Spawn Shadowy Apparitions via Shadow Word: Death. Then add on the set bonus in DF that made SW:D hit again and you can start pumping out lots of Shadows and have an army of Baneling type ghosts and just put that talent for SW:D to hit again as its own talent.
C’Thun = Channeling spells. So Mind Flay, Mind Sear and Void Torrent should all have additional synergies.
One idea I like is having Void Ray as a choice node with Void Torrent to Enhance Mind Flay damage by 5% per dot on the target. Essentially moving the current mastery effect to that talent and only effects Mind Flay and maybe Mind Sear. So you choose to have a burst Void Torrent or a Passive Increased Mind Flay and Mind Sear.
Then look at WoD Mastery and apply to all Mind Spells to just increase their damage. That makes it so you won’t be forced to dealing with suppressed damage if your dots are missing but still only benefit from mastery when casting spells unlike MoP Mastery where it just dealt damage again as multi strike which passively increased your damage from dots without doing anything. So you are required to activity press buttons to make mastery work, but you will not be punished if your dots are missing.
Those can both synergize with Y’Sharrj because they are Mind Spells and also N’Zoth because of the DoT synergy granting Crushing Blow effect.
You can Mix and match Yogg-Saron and Y’Sharrj to get even more Ghosts out.
Having Idol capstones like these grants synergy capstone effects that actually add to your gameplay beyond just increased damage. They actually effect your priority of spell rotation and you can include or exclude things based on what you as the player prefers to use more or less often.
