Oh it is a toasl POS. I ant believe ites a socaled catchup piece! I ts is ONLY a alt catchup like the entire zone. It is a total waste of time unless you have storm gear1
iI quit going there aster the first alt i brought there! It is a TOTAL waste of time for a main! Unless you played the PTR, good luck finding any of the rares that spawn! It is a total JOKE for almost anyone that tries it.
Why the hek they made it the weekly is beyond me! it takes over and hour to do the story line, and it is not worth it unless you are an alt, PERIOD!
If you did not play the PTR good luck finding the rares!!
I did use the gems noted for my spec, m+ build. All 3 gems at 424, still significant loss.
Some specs are seeing use from this, but not all are – even when properly gemmed.
You can argue that I probably shouldn’t expect much given my overall item level, but I’m just trying to achieve what the game director stated was the intention of the ring.
418 item level. My rings are both 418 Crafted Rings. I got my Annulet to 424 with the three BiS single target gems and both simmed and parsed the results. Both my rings are performing better than the 424 Annulet with BiS gems.
Replacing my 418 crafted rings with the 424 Annulet resulted in…
Patchwerk - Single Target Build
418/418(Crafted/Crafted) - 89,106
418/424(Crafted/Onyx) - 86,030
418/424(Crafted/Onyx) - 85,967
That is about a 3k dps loss from using the Onyx Annulet.
In AoE, the annulet is 6-10k lower than the other rings, but I don’t have the BiS gems for AoE yet.
I cant understand the thread. Is the Annulet ring bad?
You are simming something. Which Primordial Stones? Of course if you get a Tanking Primordial Stones or Healing Primordial Stones and you are a DPS, it would suck as a DPS ring.
Are those sim software correct?
If you record damage meters for SIngle Target 5 times of your current non-Annulet ring and compare it to Annulet ring damage meter 5 times with 3x Primordial Stone awesome for SIngle Targets, what does it say?
On me, I just assumed. I have a weaksauce unupgraded ilevel 395 Crit/Haste Ring and it was upgraded by ilevel 411 Annulet ring with the following Primordial Stones: Cold Frost Stone, Storm Infused-Stone and Desirous Blood Stone.
Let me verify it with a dummy to check if it really procs.
They’re simming in gear that probably won’t be replaced until heroic 10.1 gear, which is what is supposed to replace it anyway, and surprised it’s not better than it.

Surprised they aren’t complaining their gear isn’t being replaced by the BoA token gear too.
Bad take, in my opinion. A 424 ring should be equivalent to any other 424 ring in the game. Something that requires as much effort as the Annulet, and is the focal point of an entire patch, should probably be slightly better than other 424 rings. There is something clearly amiss, as this really just looks like more of “Blizzard doesn’t respect their players’ time.”
My guess - they buff the ring by next weekly reset.
This is the first I even heard about a ring - a thread complaining about it. I do not think it is a major content feature.
I heard about the Human/Orc heritage armor. That seems like more of a content feature.
I am a bit bothered that I have to get some ring and look up how to get it and what it does. I never heard about it. Does not seem like a major new feature.
It’s a brewmaster or headless horseman ring, useful for the undergeared. More a catch up mechanic, I think it was wise to tune it so it doesn’t feel forced. They made a pro player move here, I’m happy.
Peeps have linked multiple times where Ion says the ring would be an upgrade for everyone.
Still got multiple peeps saying it’s just supposed to be upgrade gear for alts.
sigh
I’ll be using it on this toon. It’s actually really good for feral, and will be a tremendous upgrade for her.
Just wish I had known that before I spent all of last night on my poor frost mage. I mean, she’s only at 402ilvl. The 424 ring doesn’t beat a 365 ring on that spec.
I guess my focus is pvp and they reduced its power so it wouldn’t widen the power gap between new and geared players. I stand by my statement, I think it was a pro player move.
I understand what you’re saying here, and your reasoning on why you think it was a good move.
That said, unless they made that decision while completely leaving the game director out of the loop, this is more an unintentional plus for some, and less of a design goal.
