New players are not welcome in this game

new players get it really easy in wow and veterans are VERY welcoming to them. I think the game caters to them quite a bit, and most players are super helpful. I know me personally, I get excited when I meet someone that’s new and I almost go above and beyond to help them out with info and answering questions.

I am def not the only one doing that.

That being said, if you’re new…you’re new. you aren’t entitled to things that took others years to explore and achieve in-game.

enjoy your stay, and have a better attitude about things. you’ll have a better experience that way imo.

but if you’re one of those new-gen modern gamers that just wants everything given to them cuz they pay $15 a month for a sub, yeah MMO’s might not be for you lol

With their current reputation and low worker morale, I’d expect more of your limited content to be thrown to the wolves so to speak.

New players are supposed to become competitively proficient how, exactly?

I am pretty sure most PuG’s in the game are going to easily drive away any new players as fast as the group forms. “Hi, I’m new!” Vote to kick passes…

-_-

Well, if Tier Three were suddenly dropped back into game in some fashion I’d not feel especially hard done by.
Mind you, I do place great weight on my current pixels and loath the thought of them being censored out.
The key here does seem to be Blizzard keeping to their word. Limited time, not to be repeated.
They have not done it with the Black Bug yet, so I do not see why the Mage Tower goodies should be any different (even though I certainly would like to have a go at grabbing some. I was not there. C’est la geurre.)

There’s plenty of stuff for you to earn

blizz doesn’t want your business, best to move on to games made for fans, not for CEO’s to get yachts

i lost my hope, the game will be this crap until the elitism on command leaves.

All my threads since October 2005 to try and convince Blizzard to care certainly haven’t done anything yet.

I beat the Mage Tower, and I don’t remember when I did it but based on my memory of what trinkets and set bonuses I used it must’ve been before 7.3, and it was a healer challenge (which I’ve heard is harder than most of the others), and I’m more on the side of just letting people get the Mage Tower artifact weapon appearances if they really want to

If anything more old stuff should be made available again, like the MoP legendary cloaks and gems, etc. They’re extremely powerful for timewalking twink sets. Also let mistweaver monks get Dragonwrath

ESO, for one. It frequently has limited time items and if you miss out because you weren’t playing then, well you just use something else. There is always a “something else” on the horizon.

I have to ask you this - you say are a relatively new player, so if you came here and didnt see all the many posts about the Mage Tower and limited time things, would you have even known or cared about it? Especially with the massive amount of things you can still get in the game (and I assume you have gone to old raids to get mounts and such from time to time).

If it wasnt such a meme on this forum, would you have even been aware of it?

I mean, sure, you might see someone on a flamesabre mount and think thats neat and be a bit sad if you ask the player and they tell you its not available in game at this time. But I think maybe you’d just move on and find something else pretty to work for. Like I’ve been working for months to try and get the Solar Spirehawk because its SO gorgeous - and I never got any of the Mage Tower skins and, frankly, I don’t give a hoot about that. Its not like I dont have a crapload of other stuff to use.

And I don’t think it means all that much to “a lot of new or returning players”. I dont think the idea that they may have missed something x years ago is as relevant as whether or not the game is fun for them to play now.

Honestly my main is a DK that I levelled him through Legion so that’s how i get into artifacts, i discovered the forge thing where you can change it’s appearance and realised there’s a few that cannot be unlocked.
I also checked WoWHead where the previewer of every artifact is.
So that’s how i get into the mage tower thing.
I really liked the Unholy transmog.

Well take comfort from the fact that there are a truly huge number of appearances from transmog in the game - and even that the game lets you use appearances at all. Not that long ago we had to wear something for people to see it, but Blizzard put transmogrification into the game so that we could change what our characters looked like, gearwise.

Each class has thousands of gear pieces it can use for appearances. Losing the 3 or 4 or whatever ones from the MT is tiny by comparison.

That’s not to say my dwarf paladin wouldn’t love to be able to use the golden Grand Marshall armour appearance from TBC but it cant be mogged, sadly. I havent annoyed Blizzard about it because its just one set out of the many, many sets I can use.

This reads like a troll thread. "I’m new but want Mage Tower stuff. "

Tbh the more people talk about it the more blizzard is glad for not giving weapon appearances lol. Pretty sure they want to avoid polemics.

Are you trying to look like Michael Jackson? If so, you win.

List of things I have wanted:

Original Collectors Edition Pets
Hunter Original Epic Bow from Vanilla
Priest Anathema from Vanilla
Original Corrupted Ashbringer
Mists of Pandaria Warlock Transmog
Mists of Pandaria Pandaren Phoenix Mounts
Garrosh Heirloom Weapons
Longboi Mount

And a bunch more.

But I don’t beg for them because we were told months in advance they were going away.

No, it’s not “New Player Unfriendly” It’s called rewarding loyal customers who actually played the game for the past 16 years.

Do you call a credit card company and demand no credit limit because their loyal customers who have proven they’ll pay their bills have one? No. You don’t.

Do you go to a sold out concert and DEMAND tickets? No. Because the people who were there when they were told to got them.

I have ZERO issues with them introducing recolors of the Mage Tower weapons (like the werebear). But to reintroduce the original Mage Tower skins would NOT be okay. Period. It’s unfair to those who went through hell leveling and gearing alts to get the skins they wanted, because we were told they were not going to be available again.

I can guarantee right now, if they cave to people like you and re-add the base skins, I will personally keep a forum thread active DEMANDING they bring back every single removed item from this game, including the collectors editions we can’t get anymore. (The Collectors Edition stuff was never advertised as never coming back either, I might add, so those realistically SHOULD be put in the blizzard store)

And no, I genuinely do not think having the Mage Tower skins for a few of the weapons makes me more special. I don’t even use the ones I have on most of my toons. But the fact is, if I want to use them, I have them, because I took the time to get them.

And for those who bring up the Green Fire quest - we were told almost 6 months in advance it was not going away. We were told it was a permanent feature of the game, but that anyone who completed it before WoD launched would get a unique title from it.

That’s nowhere near similar to the Mage Tower, where we were explicitly told the skins would not be back.

Awesome post (as usual) and let me know if you ever decide to run for president - I’ll vote for you.

Ok whatever. You still cannot deal with the reality that you cannot have them. I will Check back in a couple of years and see who was right. PS: you still wont have them.

Because there are new rewards for equally challenging content each expansion for newer players to get. It’s not like Blizz simply stopped with the practice and unique rewards are gone forever.

Yeah, if I were to recommend old MMORPGs to people recently interested in the MMORPG genre, I would rather recommend FFXIV.

It is World of Warcraft with a Final Fantasy skin, easier access to all content in the game, a slightly more advanced form of proactive combat but learnable, and the community is not poop and generally friendly and willing to help out, some even walking up to random sprouts and handing out sets of cosmetic gear for the chocobo-mount and minions.
