New players are not welcome in this game

Welcome to human behavior 101? Yes. They will. Always. So why are people so annoyed that humans are being human?

You know what else humans do? They try to prevent other people from having what they have. Even on the little things we’re competitive and many people will kick other people off the mountain just so they get to feel special about being up there alone.

I mean, look at how many people in this thread are so salty about even the possibility of someone else getting a few pixels in a video game that might make them happy. smh

Wanting to preserve the dignity and keep a promise in regards to a single reward a couple expansions ago is not being elitist. I don’t think less of people who don’t have a mage tower skin.

New players are not welcome in this game for fare more valid reasons that transmog looks they can or can’t get. The actual endgame is hugely disadvantaged towards them and has ever increasing massive community gatekeeping requirements to go beyond the most simple/trivial queue content.

The FOMO mentality Blizzard keeps resorting to also sucks though. No collectible should be exclusive and if anything, should be made easier over time to get. The reward is people getting it and showing it off early and when it is relevant…not having shinies nobody else gets to get just because snowflakes want to keep their snowflakeness.

Agreed, and that is an actual problem.

It’s not really being a snowflake to want Blizzard to keep a promise they made a while back. We had advance warning they’d be going away, and they even accommodated us near the end by keeping the tower open. Plenty of folks busted their butts to get as many as they could (I was happy with just the mage ones), and re-opening it now would be pretty much spitting in their faces.

There are plenty of time exclusive collectables out there in the world beyond WoW. It’s always been a thing. Is it a good thing? That is debatable. But if they opened the mage tower skins, they’d have to open up every single little thing that was exclusive just to be fair.

They lied about Classic as well.

It’s within the first few threads, but nonetheless, here it is:

They’ve given a much more compelling reason than “you think you do but you don’t”.

I don’t. I wasn’t playing at the end of Legion. I quit before ToS opened, and didn’t come back to WoW until the pandemic started.

Not really, you can buy most of the desirables off the bmah.

Humans also commit crimes but that doesn’t make it right.

The thing is, is Blizzard’s way of gatekeeping working in their favour?
I think not. Way to much has been unnecessarily removed from this game that was loved by the players.
PvP vendors ( yes we did get that one back ). WoD legendary ring quest, MoP legendary cape quest, Reforging, Class quests, Plagued and Black Protodrakes, Rhok’delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers, Benediction/Anathema and I have a bank full of crap that has been removed.

It’s stupid to think that a new player wouldn’t want to experience the same awesomeness we old timers had the pleasure , It is afaik very damaging to an MMO the removal of important content.
Trying to level a new toon these days makes no sense at all. They could have used the phasing technology to fix the questing so you can go through the game just like we did and get all the goodies if they were good enough.

no you actually can’t - what appears on BMAH is really limited in scope. I have never seen patterns they removed from the game on there and there are event pets that have never appeared on there. All sorts of titles and other things I don’t really care about aren’t on there either.

We’re talking about cosmetics sweetheart.

I am not your sweetheart and that is an obnoxious term to use to a stranger.

Also, you responded to me, I wasn’t just talking about cosmetics.

In fact, I am betting the only stuff they put on the bmah is stuff that was widely available to everyone for a period of years. The stuff that was time limited is still time limited - cosmetic or otherwise.

Ok princess.

Yeah. Only if I can get my individual dungeon titles back for cmodes, baby you can have whatever you like…

If you didn’t sing that you get nothing

Iʻm pretty sure that a lot of new players, the truly new to the game players, dont even know what the MT skins are about.

Lost my sympathy at this point.
I started reading because “Oh no, why do new players feel unwanted?”

Turns out to be bait and switch into just another “gimme ʻcus I wanʻ it” thread.

I don’t know if anyone finds this relatable, and the situation is a little different, but I’m reminded of one of the most crushing moments in my WoW life back when the Warlock Dreadsteed was made available from a vendor for 40g. All the prestige associated with that beloved mount and the hard work I put into getting it suddenly just… vanished.

Go play FFXIV, they have very less exclusive item and content is always there for you to do even after you leave the game for long time.
Blizzard likes to remove content and create exclusive content creating bunch of exclusive player that drive new player off.

Man and here I thought this thread was going to be about how level 10-20 is literally blizzard parrot pooping on new players for daring to queue for the single dungeon option, which is perhaps the most scatological dungeon of all times. Every 10 seconds as you’re being pooped on with giant green poison circles the pirate screams “Ol Sharkbait just needs to . . . EMPTY HIS HOLD!” Then laughs maniacally like it’s the wittiest thing anyone ever thought up. I quit queueing and quested after just a few of those, no idea why it’s like that I could genuinely see a new character feeling, well, crapped on out the gate with that nonsense.

New players can’t learn fast enough to get by in anything remotely close to challenging content. Dungeons, Raids, Heroic Raids, Mythics, M+… It’s all anathema to be a new player.

Meanwhile, the game is slowly dying because what made Vanilla awesome isn’t really the same in Classic. The Vanilla Classic and BC Classic are just mere iteration numbers different from the Retail one.

Instead, the Developers should go back, rediscover what made Vanilla so popular, the RPG side of the MMO experience, and then reinvent that into a modern and fun yet still RPG experience and put it into the next expansion.

It might take a great deal of work, and yet, it’s what is needed to save this game.

nothing should have ever been a limited time event. and items and achievements should devalue over time. Skins from 2 xpacs ago should not be seen as premium we should want to use new skins, this is a failing to add improved items.
