New players and allied races

Would you feel the same if classes were locked behind a gate like races? And I don’t mean like Evoker or Demon Hunter. I mean like you have to be a mage before you’re a warrior. Make you start off playing a class you might not like just to unlock one you would? How long would you last playing?

ive unlocked all but night borne and vulpera…both have bugged out on me when i try them…seems im at both of their may work if the stars and moon align points. would not wish that on an enemy… unlock them at lvl 10 or at least FIX the bugs on something several years old.

Yeah, some of them are perhaps a bit much - and some stuff seems a little bit glitchy? Like I tried to resume the old Horde War Campaign chain on my warlock that I played briefly in BFA before switching to Alliance for the rest of that xpac and SL, and ended up with a snag where the NPCs that are supposed to offer quest progression don’t, and wowhead is suggesting I might need to be 60 now instead of 50-51 to proceed, too?

I just wanted to unlock Mag’har orcs, but I guess I’m going to create a regular orc instead, seeing that it looks like I don’t have a high enough leveled Horde character to do the quests anyways.

Then there’s Kul Tirans where you have to do the Siege of Boralus dungeon - and unless you had the foresight to freeze off EXP at the right moment, by the time you get to that point, you’ll have (possibly just) lost the ability to queue for it. In fact this is a serious deterioration in the dungeon finder - before the SL level squish I distinctly do not remember any legacy dungeons where you were literally given only a ONE level window to queue for before the opportunity is lost (indeed, when we first got DF, you were given a generous 5 levels into the new xpac before you stopped being able to queue for the previous xpac’s capstone dungeons!).

FWIW, when I was active on Stormrage in SL I’m pretty sure I often saw at least as many requests for help with Siege as I did for Torghast or SL M+, and entirely because of this whole wrinkle of needing it for Kul Tirans, losing the ability to queue before you get the opportunity to do the quest, but not being able to even think of soloing it until 60 with endgame gear.

So some of the grind might be alright, but at the least I think Blizz ought to go back through and ensure that the quest chains don’t stall out due to this sort of dungeon requirements (or at least, not ones as demanding as Siege).

This would make sense.

I took a break right after bfa launch and came back with DF figuring id be dealing with something similar. Turns out i have a mountain of grinding to tackle before i can play brown orcs from 2 expansions ago, while my evoker hit 60 in like 20 minutes.

Ok.

Dungeons have not been a part of Allied race unlocks since Shadowlands:

ALLIED RACES

  • The dungeon quests for unlocking Kul Tiran humans, Mechagnomes, and Dark Iron Dwarves are no longer required. After accepting the dungeon quest, speak to the NPC again to choose to skip the quest.

All they require is doing quests, nothing more, if some quests are bugged that is definitely an issue
