New Player Concerns-GD Feedback

no there is no need for more free trial stuff, that covers a lot of the game and does what it is supposed to do, let someone test the game to see if it interests them before they buy.

and people who start playing the game really don’t miss that flying since they are leveling up through that content and then moving onto Shadowlands - where they don’t have flying. Giving them flying in BFA for 20 levels which takes a 1-2 days, then taking it away for Shadowlands would silly.

Does that person play this game?

No! This is a forum for a video game.

Oh you’re trolling, got it

Was only correcting someone. But call it what you want.

The new player experience is miles better than the experience the long term players get. I am not sure where you think the problem is or why anything needs fixing.

If you figure because ‘x’ player quits the game there is a problem, you are mistaken. Every player isn’t going to stay playing any game so it is a fools errands to try to make sure they do. All that would happen is they hit max level and get to do Shadowlands stuff and then they would quit.

I feel like the flying thing is definitely inconvenient, and in my opinion Pathfinder should not be a requirement once that expansion is no longer the most current content.

That being said, flying is not the worst part of the new player/BfA experience. In my opinion it shoves them into content with no catch up as far as the lore goes, there is no introduction to who Jaina or anyone else or what is going on. There are new players that join the game, but it’s more often than not returning players. Those players usually want to run around in the content they were familiar with (and I am not speaking as one of them, this is just what I have seen and heard in Newcomer chat) and a lot of them wonder why they cannot run the old dungeons that they used to.

And speaking of dungeons, why are new players or players on low level toons being sent into dungeons that were designed for characters who were at end-level content and had their full list of spells and abilities? Sending low level toons into BfA dungeons with no interrupts or AoE or CC is silly. There are trash mobs that have abilities that can wipe a dungeon party if not interrupted.

And the tutorial zone is a step in the right direction for giving new players information on game mechanics and whatnot but it could be much better. It does not prepare them for BfA content.

From what I have seen, a lot of people get confused or inundated with the overwhelming amount of information a new player has to learn. Not just class mechanics but general encounter mechanics. There is a lot of information that those of us who have been playing consistently for a long time just know, that can be overwhelming for a new player or a player returning from a long, long break.

I don’t think giving away free cosmetics and mounts to new players is the answer. A better structure for introducing them to the game is what is needed.

did someone actually suggest that? I guess some people just like having stuff, but others the best part of the stuff is the process to earn it.

It’s hilarious to see the same people in multiple threads just begging for free stuff. Begging for heroic ilvl gear from world quests, begging for AOTC mounts, begging for Gladiator mounts, begging for anything. It’s kind of cringe. I don’t actually understand it. Why do these people not just play the game? Play the game, do the content, earn the rewards.

I think the tweet was more focus on the fact that you could be leveling on BFA zones and at lvl 30 and automatic quest will pop up telling you that you can learn fly skill but then if y ou go back to stormwind/orgrimmar and then back to BFA, the skill won’t work because of the lack of pathfinder.

I just want to continue topic on CC forums, from my pov, there’s a problem to gain new players and also as you mentioned there’s a lot of issues on max level that could cause a player to quit the game.

Nobody said anything about free stuff, if you read the CC topic is about getting mounts from a box or something after putting effort on old dungeons with a low % drop rate, so max level players could help the queues for new players, the only issue was that the OP from CC mentioned that he wants recolors from Glad mounts on those boxes.

Actually we got some Misty Satchel of Exotic Mysteries bags that provided mounts from old dungeons during legion when there wasn’t a tank/healers available, now we got Runes bags.

remove that quest.

the game is fine for new players - this game just isn’t for a lot of people and I don’t know why anyone would want to keep adjusting old content when that time/resources could be better spent to keep the long term players playing, you know the ones for whom this game was for.

Okay. Just don’t do that then.

I actually agree with putting mounts in satchels, mounts with low-drop rates from legacy raids would be completely fine. Just don’t dip into FOMO stuff because it comes off as wanting something someone else earned legitimately.

and people didn’t earn the mounts from legacy raids legitimately?

They did this and they had people who didn’t know how to tank or heal trying to farm those which caused problems for groups as well as creating a huge amount of unfairness so they removed them.

This isn’t about improving the game for anyone, this is just about someone wanting as easy way to get mounts.

Did you read OP on CC forums? That part was mentioned just once as a form of incentive, it’s not the main focus, they could provide gold, runes…anything else too.

Nobody considers Ashes or Invincible prestigious. They’re just annoying to farm. Channeling those mount farmers into content to reduce queue times could be a good thing.

I do agree that it is a problem to have people who barely know how to tank or heal chasing the mounts… but maybe Blizzard could have some kind of requirement like, y’know, Proving Ground Silver, where you prove you are a “Mentor” by doing well in those roles, allowing you to be eligible for these prizes when you queue in needed roles.

the mount in satchel thing, it was a thing back in wrath to like mop, you could farm dungeons under CTA, and get those satchels that had gold, and a small chance of those 1% rare mounts, those rare ones like baron rivendare for example.

was called “X” Satchel of Exotic Mysteries based on the expansion.
Example: https://www.wowhead.com/item=90818/misty-satchel-of-exotic-mysteries

it got changed to CTA rewarded gold + augment runes instead halfway in warlords.

nope I don’t go there.

and I still disagree there is even a problem to begin with.

True, people really just took a single part when OP talks about new player topics like:

  • Class Trials

  • Solo Challenging Content

  • The initial levelling process

  • Max Level

  • New Players in Dungeons

  • Character Development between Expansions

  • Current Expansion LFR issues

Some also impact max level players and not only new players, that’s why its difficult to talk this topics on GD, players only focus on 1 thing.

I don’t consider anything prestigious but I don’t think people should be able to farm easy mode than with took effort to get originally.

No, instead they should just remove the flying requirement from BfA Pathfinder, and just let it reward the mount in my opinion. They did this with WoD.

If it doesn’t take skill to get, then as far as I’m concerned it can drop from anywhere and it doesn’t matter.

Look, bud, I’m not personally invested in this idea because I don’t care about mounts without prestige, but if people want to fix healer or tank queue times, then offering mounts is a prize that has a proven track record of working. As someone who tanks and also heals a bit, I’m more than happy to continue to enjoy the status quo of fast queue times, no sweat off my back, but not everyone can enjoy the same privilege.
