New player aug dmg

hi

i just started playing aug and my damage on meters looks low; but when i add the calculated dps my buffs provide and include the damage from blistering scales that appears under my tank’s damage- i’m consistently either the top damage or 2nd to top.

so my question is , does aug damage actually bad or are people just wholly ignoring these things because they’re not default/blatantly shown on/as my damage bar?

i’m thinking this is just my perspective as a new aug, and that in higher keys etc , people were smart enough to account for these things and there is still a massive deficit? but its hard for me to assume this because they’re essentially based on the other players, so they should increase as ally damage does?
idk how to look at other peoples’ logs breakdowns and count myself. if anyone has a good buff uptime log i’d love to see/hear it!

also add perma visage form please; i’m tired of using deviate delights :couch_and_lamp:

without a log you can’t tell

I’d be interested to see these logs, and I’m not sure what your other DPS are doing, but this should be far from the case. Given that you’re not even 70 yet, though, it could just be a scaling thing/bad players in groups.

Aug damage is laughably bad. And since so much of your damage is coming from the other DPS, I’m not sure how you’d beat them unless they were doing next to nothing.

For reference, I just completed a 10 HoI in time and granted my ilvl is low going into this week ( didn’t get to play much last week), but our top DPS nearly doubled what I was doing, and second place was about 90k ahead of me.

We definitely survived a lot of the massive AOE mobs due to the extra survivability that Aug brings, but it’s definitely floorpov DPS.

The Details DPS approximations for Aug are not even close to accurate, so you’d need to be logging your keys for any insight into your actual damage.

You’ve got it right; Aug is really good, but people don’t recognize it as easily thanks to damage meters.

It’s really good when you need its utility/survival but it’s damage contribution is meh compared to other dps specs. Which, i suppose, is how it should be.

By nature of its design, it’s not going to shine very well in lower content where people aren’t doing a lot of damage, but in higher content where people know more about what they’re doing you’ll see better results for yourself in the logs.

But your damage is always going to be tied to how other people are doing, which can be a benefit or a problem, depending on how you look at it.

Focus on your uptime on Presence and Ebon Might. Your own Dps is little to nothing but keeping the group buffed is what you should be working towards a near 100% uptime. There will be points it might drop but learning to keep it rolling and getting it back up ASAP is very important.
