New playable race possibilities

<Laughs in Worgen Racial [Running Wild].>

worgens can still mount

Alternatively, we could even use this as an opportunity for Dynamic Ground Mounts for them both. I definitely am not the only one here wishing that we’d get a Gilnean Stagecoach as a Ground Mount at this point: one that is Rostrum-Compatible with an option allowing for Players to hitch up their favorite Ground Mounts to it’s Harness with the number of Mounts to pull it based on the Mounts’ general Size classification:

Sturdy Harness: 4 “Small” Mounts (Horses, Wolves, Nightsabers, Hawkstriders, Talbuks, Raptors, Unicorns, etc.)
Reinforced Harness: 2 “Medium” Mounts (Kodos, Rams, Bears, Boars, Crabs, Yaks, Elekks, Riverbeasts, etc.)
Industrial Harness: 1 “Large” Mount (Ironhoof Destroyer, “Long Bois”, Ohn’Ahran Mammoths, Gorms, Gronnlings/Yetis, Nighthold Infernals, Corehounds, etc.)

The only Mounts that are not allowed to pull a Gilnean Stagecoach would be “Non-Living Mounts” (Magic Carpets, Spider Tanks, Mech Suits, Elemental Tornados, Motorcycles, etc. with the only exception being the aforementioned Infernals along with Skeletal Horses and Gnomish Mechanostriders) and “Non-Walking Mounts” (IE: anything that doesn’t have feet touching the ground for it’s walk/run animation like Parrots, Ardenweald Moths, Aqir Insects, Bees, etc.)

the problem is, you are limiting a player who plays those races to not use one of the main selling points of the game that is cosmetic mounts, let alone other cosmetic related to legs and boots

humanoid races just work better for all purposes

I second Ogres, but I would rather have murlocs or tuskarr for Alliance than another type of human.

Ogres for the horde!

Ogres for the horde!

Ogres for the horde!

I love this idea! I hope the Devs see this and give it serious consideration.

something with an odd number of legs that can also triple wield. we need some new stuff.

To be completely honest, at this point, I don’t think we’re getting any new races that use a completely new skeleton. By using existing skeletons for new playable races they’re able to skip a lot of the work necessary to making a new race, the biggest being making old armor/weapons work with the new race. A new skeleton causes the need for 20 years of gear to have proper rigging added for the new model, I suspect this is a huge reason why the drac’thyr model only gets weapons, off hands, belts, and shoulders but then their visage forms get full xmog options since they’re using human female and blood elf male models.

The gear thing is also likely why we got another dwarf flavor this expansion and are likely getting harronir next; existing models are just easier to rig properly for old xmog.

Don’t get me wrong though, I would absolutely love to see a new playable race with a new skeleton, I just don’t see it happening because of the amount of extra work that goes into it.

All of that said, I do quite like the idea of the player base getting to choose the new playable race, even if that choice is simply them saying “here’s 5 races, pick one”.

There’s a wide variety of creatures and animals found in this game that I am surprised aren’t yet made into Mounts; a fair number of them even share walk/run animation rigging with some existing Mounts that it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility to tweak them to add. Three such examples which come to mind are Shoveltusks from Northrend, Musken from Stormheim, and the four-legged Hydras first introduced in Warlords of Draenor: which share the same or similar animation rigs as WoD Boars, Yaks, and Brutosaurs respectively.

On another note, why don’t we have a Bank Mount yet? It could be easily implemented on any of the Mounts that already have a non-interactable Treasure Chest on them like the Riddlers’ Mind-Worm or other Eel Mounts.
