New PC: Weird issue with FPS being very high or much lower?

Hello!

I recently just built a new PC and one thing I have realized is that there is some extreme variance in the FPS I get when I use my “sitting in Dornogal” test.

Without changing any settings or doing anything differently, my FPS will either be like between 75-90 or between 130-140. I’ve eliminated it being a sharding thing as well. I’m not sure what changes but when I get these windows of my FPS being giga high at ~140, once I restart my PC for whatever reason it drops back down to that 75-90 range and then at some random point I will actually get the high FPS without manually changing anything.

Is this a WoW thing or hardware thing? I’ve tried troubleshooting across like 3-4 different software platforms and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing this. Tbh the 80 FPS thing is perfectly playable but I am a min maxer on FPS for raid, so if I can get that I would be very happy.

Specs are as follows… AMD 9950X3D CPU, Gigabyte Aorus 5070TI, 32 Gigs of RAM, ASUS MOBO. I have only ever really played on a laptop, so I’m new to all this.

Any help or advice would be appreciated! Cheers

I’m seeing other posts on the 5000 series and fps issues, not really digging into it, not sure of resolutions.

Check your power cables, make sure they’re fully seated, seeing issues mainly in 4000 series, but some in the newer.

What resolution are you running? I’m thinking it should not be higher than 1440 for wow.

There were other posts about newer drivers also, rolling back to something from January was suggested. See if the card make has support pages with information also.

Hey thanks for the reply! I play at 1440p exact, I don’t really deviate from that. I do get an issue sometimes with minimizing out the game and the resolution goes to “custom”, very intermittent though so I’m not entirely sure what causes that. I will try to roll back the GPU driver and see if that does anything.
