The servers just came up for midnight prepatch and the models are still the same. The 20yr old drab….werent we suppost to get the new models today? For human and blood elves? Where they at or someone point me in the direction of getting them.

I thought so too… a bit disappointing to be sure.. Everything I searched said they’d be dropping with prepatch…
Yeah thats what I thought and I cant find anything online about it. Is it a new glyph or what? Id just like to know whats the deal. I figured theywould just be updated baseline.

Commenting here as well. It’s evident that the model is already in game since the new Scarlet Charger is using an updated model. It’d be ridiculous if Blizzard ended up going through all that effort to update the models and then not even make them available for players to use, but unfortunately, I don’t think this would he the first time that’s happened if this is the case.
True, and I’ve been able to confirm the Relinquished Scarlet Charger comes from an Arator questline you can do during the Midnight leveling campaign. Which now makes me think the models probably won’t receive the update until actual release… which blows a bit.. not sure why they decided on this, but.. I guess it is what it is…
I knew about the new charger from the arator questline, I just didnt think they would be tied together like that. Since one is a mount you have to earn vs one you already have by logging in as a paladin. You maybe right but it was something I was so hyped about for prepatch.

I agree man. I was really hyped for it as well. Now I’ll have switch back to my Highlord’s until we get them, I guess.
In the beta currently the chargers did not receive any updates when using boosted characters, neither human or blood elf.
So the updated looks might be part of a quest reward but I don’t know.

This happened to shaman and was an issue for about 5 years. Updated chain lightning and lightning bolt were given to NPC shamans in Shadowlands. In fact, those animations are still not available to us and they look 100x better than what shaman currently have.
They released an updated lightning bolt this expansion but it’s still not that really pretty animation the NPC’s got. Our chain lightning still isn’t what they got.
My guess, just like shaman - some intern was tasked with adding updated visuals, intern left, rest of the team don’t actually play the game to notice.

Yeah.. I know. They had that awesome consecration update back in.. 8.0 or 8.1.. I think? We still haven’t gotten that either.. Wish they’d be a bit more consistent about implementing the things they show us..

Actually reminds me. The pose used by male Orc Warriors in the character creation screen is different from the actual dual-wielding animation for male orcs. I believe it’s a modified unarmed animation. Looks leagues better than the actual dual-wield pose.

Exactly. I really don’t understand why blizz goes through the effort of creating updated animations, puts them in the game, but doesn’t give it to player characters. Only scenario where they tried and reverted it due to technical issues was back in DF beta, warrior recklessness had a REALLY cool animation where you were moving so fast it looked like it was a bunch of you moving and attacking with a cool red animation. But that was causing some visual bugs that they couldn’t get sorted.
No excuse for the better poses, or better updated spells like chain lightning or paladin charger models though.

honestly I hope that what you all are proposing is infact NOT the case…those models for chargers are old enough to have kids of their own. 20 yrs old at this point - they have the model …just put it in? Also weird they are letting frost mages hide their ice cycles out of combat but completely forget sunfury orbs we been asking for the last two years? Honestly Idk what is going on over there.

Blizzard rarely, if ever, update already existing mounts. New models are pretty much always new (and separate) mounts. For example, see all the raptor mounts. The vanilla raptor mounts still look like they did back in vanilla, even though new raptor mount models were introduced in WoD and BFA.
If you are talking about the stained glass Consecration, that one was implemented during the 8.1 PTR, but got reverted to the vanilla Consecration after overwhelming negative feedback. No idea why they didn’t just make it a glyph though.

That is what I was referring to. Hadn’t heard about the negative feedback. I agree. Glyphs are always the way to go. Why just completely scrap something, right?

As long as they put new models in addition to the current ones, not instead of. I still love my charger and my warhorse.
I’ve had them since forever, and still use them regularly to this day. I’d be sad if they were removed.

They shouldn’t be the default, but they should be glpyhed. New players don’t have the nostalgia for the 10 pixel default models. It looks weird to make a high res character and then have a low res mount as the default.
