They said themselves that a medium pop server today is about the size of the biggest server back in the day. It’s also a week day, so a lot of people are at school or work… You think ever person that wants to play is chucking a sickie? Wait until tonight or the weekend.
Furthermore, I’ve been watching people on the US server talking about their queue positions, and lots of theirs have dropped by 5-10k in an hour. Mine has dropped by about a thousand. Maybe they could sprinkle a little bit of whatever magic powder they’re using to get US server queues down so fast on the only oceanic one.

It’s extremely important to avoid underpopulated realms after the rush dies down. In other words, having the absolute minimum amount of servers to accommodate everyone is the best path forward for the overall health of Classic.
I’m not bothered by queues in the first few days (even crazy long ones like this 10,000-long queue) if it means that they’re not shooting the Oceanic community in the foot by overprovisioning.

They can merge?
They should open a temporary server Arugal v.2 to let everyone play. And then when population dies down, just merge it. EZPZ

Same, i’m 902 in Queue now with 8min …
in an hour and a half it’s dropped 1600 for me (I Was around 3.7k in queue) saying 18min est…yeah I don’t think so. I think the queues only going to get bigger come this evening when people will be getting off work

Problem is it’s already too late to open a secondary server. People won’t want to roll on a lower population; once the hype goes the new server will die. It should have been done prior launch.
As irritating as queue times are, they need to monitor it for a week or two before considering another server. I believe there’s many people who wont stick around for the long run and will likely leave when they have had their nostalgia fix.
Yeah I’m now at 922 with 8 mins. I know that 8mins is a lie though.
If that was an option, I’d certainly go for it. But it’s too much work for them.
People saying opening another server is a bad idea… They can merge it once the servers aren’t as populated or simply do what they have done in the past, charge money to transfer $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I disagree, if a new server opened up, I’d jump over immediately, most of my friends haven’t even subscribed yet so they wouldn’t lose names or anything, and it would get me into the game today. If enough people are in a similar position to me, then it would fill up in no time
