New Mythic+ Affix: Lindormi's Guidance

Greetings!

In this week’s beta build, we’re introducing a new Mythic+ affix designed to support players who are learning dungeon routing: Lindormi’s Guidance. When Midnight Season 1 begins, this affix will be active in Mythic+ levels 2–5.

While Lindormi’s Guidance is active, certain non-boss enemies will be afflicted with Temporal Sands, visually highlighting them and reducing their health and damage done by 5%. Defeating these marked enemies will fulfill 100% of the Enemy Forces count, providing a basic route through the dungeon. Additionally, the affix also prevents player deaths from reducing the timer.

Our goal with Lindormi’s Guidance is to help players learn a reliable dungeon route while they’re still getting comfortable with the seasonal dungeons. We also hope this affix makes it easier for groups to align on a route in the early levels of Mythic+. These routes are not intended to be optimal for higher-end play. Instead, they’re meant to serve as a foundation for groups learning the dungeons before pushing deeper into Mythic+.

Additionally, to support this new affix, we’ll also be shifting the starting point of the Xal’atath’s Bargain affixes one level deeper into the system, from Mythic+ level 4 to Mythic+ level 5.

We’d appreciate feedback on how well Lindormi’s Guidance supports players as they learn new Mythic+ dungeons.

Very interesting. I think this is a step in the right direction. Let the lower keys be the learning keys.

Looking forward to seeing how this plays out.

This sounds like a great idea for new tanks.

Why not just mark mobs with count and percent in game. Or have defeating a certain mob progress you in count. Routing is still something only the tank has to worry about throughout all key levels… having a visual for everyone, eases mindspace from the tank..

Like how can this obvious solution fly past you guys…

This is an amazing idea.

Can I then be the one to ask why we’re just now putting this on Beta in the middle of January when pre patch is in 6 days and expansion is in 6 weeks? This feels like we should’ve been able to test this like…..2 months ago…….

I just showed this to a friend of mine who only tanks raids and never M+ because he doesn’t feel comfortable because of routes.

He’s now actually going to attempt tanking M+.

As someone that loves tanking, I think this is a W to get some newer tanks into the role. To help set tanks up for success in lower keys, it might not be a bad idea to encourage pulling two packs into one pull with this affix. Maybe making the two closest packs that are part of the route a more distinct color or something. The route pressure isn’t just knowing which packs to pull, it is when to pull them.

Interesting. As a tank, learning, driving, and adapting to unplanned pulls in the route is my least favorite part of M+, so this is certainly a welcome change; would need to see how visible this thing is. Down the line I would love a more dedicated feature of some kind, like a lighter version of MDT or something with % forces (percentage on nameplates, or above packs of enemies, or a number next to the keystone widget that tells me what % I am currently in combat with), but this looks like an unambiguous plus!

This is amazing. Huge win. Keep it up!

This is FANTASTIC! I will be using it the first week or 2 and on alts FOR SURE! I spent a LOT of time watching videos on M+ routes throughout TWW and it wasn’t a lot of fun. I still forgot things the first handful of runs.

Invaluable tool for tanks, period.

Probably because it’s a fairly recent idea they came up with or were suggested. I’m sure we’ll get to test it enough before Midnight goes live.

A great idea to ease people into M+, once they get used to the dungeons with this then they can try progress their key level. Awesome change.

Now let us do this through custom routes like MDT would, and add color coding. No reason to limit this to lower keys.

or hell, maybe they can just make a toggle on/off super noob mode that holds your hand.

Good idea! How about we add another affix targeted at healers.. We can call it “PARTY AND RAID FRAMES” that are useable.. We can make the “affix” active in every aspect of the game on a trial basis.. Something new!

Fear of screwing up percentages is the number one thing discouraging me from tanking keys. I like this development very much.

Thank you so much Blizzard!! I’ve been wanting to tank for a long time, although not sure where to go within the dungeon. The starter keys 2-5 will be a huge help!! I’ll definitely be tanking in Midnight.

I don’t hate this idea, like it actually, but instead of 2-5 make it 2-3. Making 4 be where the training wheels get taken off then move to 5 where you start throwing other affix into mix. 2-5 makes half of the journey (especially for pugs) trivial. By the time you get to 10’s (around 2500 rating) I’m bored and move on to a different character/role. or introduce actual 1’s, literally m0 but with %

4’s should be where it really begins.

This is AWESOME!!! Tried it on the beta. Definitely helped me start to learn the routes. On a side not is a system where the group leader/tank can highlight mobs like this in higher keys possible? Would be awesome to have a planned route that’s easy to communicate when pugging. Not saying they need the debuf, but a highlighted route would be awesome.
