Are frost mages supposed to be using mirror images as a dps cooldown? I’ve looked through the wowhead and icyveins guide and in the rotation chapters the writers never mention the ability. Is it just survivability cooldown now?
No. MI is now a defensive, and a pretty decent one at that. I tend to pop it during certain mechanics to stay alive (eg: popping open 2 containers during Darkvein), or for soaking things on other fights. Between 2 Ice Blocks, Barrier and MI Frost tends to take a lot less damage than most other specs.
It’s a good defensive cooldown, you basically never use it for DPS…though the “smarter” Mirror Images in Torghast are pretty sick for Fire as they cast Greater Pyro.
